Hidden members only content?
Hi all,
When I was browsing the main forum earlier, I came across a post with a green box that read "Hidden Content (for members only)". This is my first time coming across it and I was unaware of any sort of membership beyond joining the forum. Is this something new, a problem, or just something I ...

Re: Coloring scales with Tulip fabric paint
I have not used it on knife scales, but I'm kinda inclined to believe it would probably be a result similar to RIT dying G10/FRN. I think I'd probably stick to RIT as I'd personally be a little concerned with the paint building up in screw holes and so on and causing problems with the action and ...

Re: Before I order from National Knives
The prices are very close to OpFocus prices, so I'm sure they are still making money. It's my understanding that they're able to sell below MAP because you have to be signed in to an account get their lower prices.

From what I can see the Cara Cara is the largest Byrd, both current production and discontinued.

Re: Storage, open or closed?
I'm no engineer or anything, but it's my understanding that it's the transition between compressed/uncompressed and vice versa on a spring that causes wear rather than sitting compressed or uncompressed. I personally store all my autos closed.

In my experience, signing up for in-stock notifications at retailers that offer them is the best option.

Re: Fake Nirvana??
Definitely a fake, the knife in the listing is screw-together and a liner lock instead of an integral frame lock. I reported it to no avail, automated system said there were no problems with the listing. Maybe because it was listed as a "replica" in the item details? Really gross situation.

i need to get one of these. anyone know of coupon codes that will work for these somewhere?
They are out of stock there right now, but National Knives is about $25 less than everywhere else if you create an account with them/sign in if you have an account. They also ship with a microfiber towel ...

Re: Another ebayer selling counterfeits
You report to Ebay?
Yes, they don't care though. They won't do anything unless Spyderco files a complaint. They have a very strong financial incentive to let the counterfeiters sell whatever they want.
Nah... akapennypincher - that's provably false...
I've reported various ones in the ...

Re: Is this a knockoff
Why would anyone buy that thing, of questionable quality to say the least, for $170 when you can get a real deal Manix 2 LW, of known top quality with lifetime warranty, for less? Who is the target demographic here?
I believe it comes free with a pair of boots. I haven't heard anything good ...

Re: Is this a knockoff
Definitely a knockoff. I can't speak with any authority to the legality but it doesn't look good to me and I would imagine the use of the round hole is trademark infringement at the least.

Re: Sage 5 SPY27 FRN and G-10 internals identical?
Out curiosity I checked RGT for compatibility between G10 and FRN and found the scales are acceptable for both but position of clip should be checked if older generation Sage . Clip apparently must be centered on scale . I’m not sure if this helps but best I could come with . JSumm may have some ...

Re: Crucible Industries declares Chapter 11 bankruptcy
I assume that if Erasteel liquidates Crucible's physical assets, and they are currently manufactering their PM steels in Sweden, then the Crucible steels will start new production in Erasteel's Swedish factories.
It's my understanding that unless the steel recipe is still patent-protected ...

Re: Looking for USA made scales for Spyderco Matriarch 2
They are made in Ukraine, but I am happy with a G10 set I got from DHCustomKnives on Etsy. They were a bit tough to get on but they've been rock solid ever since, no serious complaints from me.
