Re: New Graham Knives is closing!

New Graham is my local knife shop. This is so sad. Their showroom was beautiful, staff was great, and just a great overall experience.

[They are no longer receiving new shipments of Spyderco knives (sadly including my CC 087s)

I own a few of your CC 087s. Thank you for turning down the Rex 45 ...

Re: C240BKALBKCWP Black Cruwear Smock Exclusive

So aside paying a premium for a sprint, what does this really bring that the normal s30v version doesn't? I wouldn't call Aluminum vs Carbon Fiber a huge win either way. s30v vs Cruwear, Cruwear for durability but s30 from what I could find should hold an edge longer and be more corrosion ...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2

Been away from the knife world for awhile. My wallet was so relieved. But Spyderco releasing Magnacut, Rex 121, AND new 15v models has my wallet hiding.Their Magnacut has been good for me so far. Kinda bummed there won't be a Sage 5 in 15v. Either make it in the USA or beg BBB to for an exception to ...

Re: K390 Lil' Temperance3 Lightweight In Stk

Mine came today. It's a chunky little monkey.
The action on mine is really good. Very smooth. I think on the US Spydies, the compression lock bar moves over enough (when manually disengaging) that the detent ball doesn't touch the blade, or it touches it very lightly. Which results in the ...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

^That's interesting. I recently got a Sage 1 in Maxamet in the seconds sale. the blade has only 3 tiny specs on it in a grouping.

I figured it was only on the surface, possibly a mistake during the finishing of the blade. But you believe such defects are homologous throughout the entire blade ...

Re: Drunken Lynch Clip!

Casey at Lynch is great. I have no doubt he's manufactured a clip because you (along with others) have requested it.
A few months ago I emailed him about a sold-out clip, and he had his team custom anodize one just for me, without me having to ask. They just go above and beyond for each customer.

The Lil Native wharncliffe is an option that’s much smaller but still provides a 4 finger grip.

Re: Different Shaman Steels

I'd suggest snagging a 15V Shaman on the secondary market. Their prices are reasonable compared to the PM2 and Manix in 15V. You can probably get one for the same price as a new S30V Shaman from a retailer.

Re: Favorite Strop

My favorite strops are all made by myself.

I ordered vegetable tanned leather belt blanks from a leather store online for like $15. It gave me enough leather for 5-6 dual sided strops. Glued the leather to a piece of wood and called it a day.

Compound goes on the hard leather, the rough side is ...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

The six steels Larrin mentioned with two in each category of High Toughness (14C28N, AEB-L), Balanced Steel (CPM-154, CPM-MagnaCut) and High Wear Resistance (CPM-S90V, CPM-S110V) are all Stainless Steels.

I think it's just a product reveal right now. The release will be later. REC normally releases stuff at 1200pm EST if I remember correctly. No clue when they'll actually be available tho.

Re: The Pivot Bushing

I think the advantage of bushings is consistency from one knife to the next. It enables Spyderco to deliver a silky, pneumatic-like action on all the models equipped with a bushing. This is compared to most Golden models that can be drop shut, but usually require tuning to get to that point. At ...

Re: The Pivot Bushing

Does anyone know which models have the pivot bushing? I am curious to know if there is one in my Lil’ Native?
BTW: there is not side-to side play on mine.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I've always assumed that if the pivot has removable screws on both sides it's the bushing ...

After reading the thread I think I'll content with my S90V PM2

Re: Lil Native Light Weight?

I wonder why they chose the back lock version to make into an FRN. I assume the comp lock version is more popular. A least it’s the version that always gets sprint runs/exclusives.

Maybe the back lock is easier to implement in FRN? Or maybe the comp lock would still require full liners and ...

Re: Lil Native Light Weight?

I just hope they eventually make a comp lock version and of this knife. Or CQI the compression lock versions with the upgrades.

What is it about the compression lock versions that make you think they need to be CQI'd and upgraded?

The main improvement I’d like to see is the thinner blade ...

Re: Spyderco liner locks

Lock tests are important to a point. Check out the issues people have had with the Volsteed Racoon (button lock version). It literally couldn’t pass a light spin wack test. Or dare I mention the Mini Adamas on the Spyderco forums? Lol

Now attaching hundreds of pounds to a knife to test the lock ...

Kinda feel bad for this series from BHQ. The K390 versions of these knives are only a few bucks more. But I guess it’s a win for those who are big fans who of the Seki knives.
