Re: Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holidays Sale!

Got my mystery box. Much better than any of the others I've gotten in past years.

Re: CPM Spy27 in a Post-Crucible World

Unfortunately per Sal (unless anything has changed since he made the thread), it's likely going away in addition to the exotic stuff like REX 121 and 15V. viewtopic.php?t=98121

Re: What is the best steel for retaining high sharpness?

Rex 45. The fine grain structure and extremely high hardness gives it a very long lasting super scary edge in my experience. Rex 45 is pretty much all fine edge.

I have heard of rex 45 holding a good edge for a long time before, but only once. Have you used hap40 before? composition wise ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal, Part 2

Honed my bumblebee PM2 in Magnacut this time with the 400gr Naniwa resin bonded diamond stone. I think I used 1um tech diamond tools paste on this one. Bevel was already set previously on the first sharpening so honing it was quick and easy.

Nice edge👍 What angle is that?
Thanks. It was freehanded so not 100% sure. Threw it in my guided system and it was about 13dps, though I'm not sure I trust that measurement. So I'd say between 13-15dps in actuality.

@Enactive Thanks! I did mess up near the tip a bit on the clip side (rotated my wrist a bit) but got it mostly even in the end.

@LorenzoL Definitely is! :cheap-sunglasses

Re: Real World User Experience Sharpening CPM 15V

Finally got around to reprofiling my Native 5 LW. Used a Shapal 325gr diamond plate to set the bevel, then refined the edge on a Naniwa 400gr resin bonded diamond stone. Haven't used the Naniwa too much but it's starting to grow on me. Might grab the 1000gr version of this stone.

Stropped with 3um ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal, Part 2

I wish I could experience that level of sharpness. I've never had anything that sharp. What is in the lanyard hole?

What's your sharpening process like?

As I got obsessed with sharpening I was always chasing higher and higher sharpness. Somewhere along the way I settled on being able to slice ...

Honed my Lil Temp 3 in K390 on a Naniwa 400gr resin bonded diamond stone, then a couple passes on ~1um tech diamond tools paste on leather. It's back to slicing free hanging paper towel

Re: I don't want all compression locks switched to buttons but...

I don't see why it would have to replace the traditional compression lock tab. But I do think there's a market for the button lock versions. Maybe a sprint or exclusive to test the market would work.

Dack Outdoors. Really great pricing, but really slow shipping, though they are very upfront about the latter.

Really slow shipping is right.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal, Part 2

It was freehanded and I just eyeball the bevels so not entirely sure tbh, but my freehanded edges usually end up between 11-13dps. On that note I went ahead and threw it in my guided system to check and this one is ~12.8dps according to the angle block thing, so call it 13dps.

Here's a couple ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal, Part 2

Sharpened some 15V this time.

Refreshed the edge on my PM2 with a 600gr Atoma since it's already at the angle I like. A number of light passes with each stone trying not to get a burr. Then a few passes of 1um stroppy stuff on leather.
