I hear you @Jeb... That FB at the bottom is a $1 Chinesium "kitchen knife" I've used in the garage for ages. I have no emotional attachment to it, so it's the perfect tool for the job! 🙂

I always fold the sand paper, with the coarse side out, and then cut from the inside (the backing side), along the fold. That seems to be less harsh on the edge. You don't need a sharp knife to do this.

I shot up all the phone books I ever had. It's amazing how hard it is to shoot through a phone book with a .45 auto.

Micarta does make a really nice scale, just as long as you don't mind it getting darker colored as you use the knife.
