Excited to see a Spyderco Phil Wilson Filet Knife. Anyone know how 8CR17MOV compares to 8CR13MOV? I’d imagine it is more corrosion resistant as it should have more chromium. Based on the description in the reveal, it looks like a specific heat treatment was used to maintain adequate flexibility.

Re: The serrated Chaparral is pretty cool
:winking-tongue He really should have gotten one when it was $59.99 from Cutlery Shoppe with free shipping and no tax (found out through deals thread).
Seriously? That's hard to believe.
Yep, first time I’ve bought an exact duplicate of a knife I already have. CS had a bunch of flash sales ...

Re: The serrated Chaparral is pretty cool
Yes, the Caribbean does have very similar serrations and I believe is the only other Taichung serrated knife. This is the reason many people were anticipating (and hoping for) the Chaparral to have similar serrations. I do not know why Taichung does these serrations in particular but I’d like to see ...

Re: Chaparral
Any word on the status of the serrated version and if it will have similar “wavy” serrations as the Caribbean?

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!
Hi Saucerito,
At this point, We've given them a number of designs, so it will depend on which they choose to make first.
It was suggested to make a sprint of the Calypso jr FRN with the fishscale scales. Any interest?

The Calypso Jr isn’t a model I’ve ever given much thought as I ...

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!
My plan is to try to revive the Caly Family with a Caly 2.5", 3.0", 3.5", 4.0" and pendants. The maker is small and slower so it will be a while. Probably Carbon Fiber, though I'm open to suggestions.

Re: Help! Mystery box second missing a pivot screw
I also had an issue with the kitchen knife I ordered which I feel to be well outside of the seconds definition (functional and safety issue). I am going through Spyderco Customer Service and expect them to be a little slow this time of year. I am still awaiting a reply but would not expect ...

Re: Where Have all the Calys Gone?
Dear Sal:
Thank you very much for the kind words. I'm humbled and honored.
Back when the first-gen Yojimbo was still in the works, I took a Rescue 93mm and reground it to a Wharncliffe. That "RescueJimbo" had a very aggressive SpyderEdge tooth pattern and, in testing with Pork Man clothed in ...

Yes, the “wavy” serrations are exactly what TimButterfield referenced and are very distinctive on the Caribbean.

Chaparral LW SE
I’m really hoping this model has the wavy serrations like the Caribbean. It will be a must buy if so. As much as I like the Caribbean, it is too large and bulky to be an around the house/athletic short IWB EDC for me. Are there any other Taichung knives with serrations? Just trying to gauge the ...

Does anyone know if it’s been mentioned if the Caly 3.5 LW will have a 4 way clip? It seems most (all?) Spyderco FRN backlocks larger than dragonfly have a 4 way clip.

Re: Grip When Using Knife with Finger Choil
I also feel like my thumb needs to move down on the blade when using the choil on the Manix, and I don’t have hands nearly as large as Vivi.
To me, though, using the choil has less to do with control of the blade as it does with feel for the end of the sharpened edge. There’s nothing worse than ...

Grip When Using Knife with Finger Choil
When using a knife with a finger choil that also allows a full grip on the handle, do you naturally grip using the choil or not?
If a knife has a choil, I naturally tend to use it so I have more control and feel of where the sharpened edge ends. I usually grip the Delica using the faux-choil too ...

Looks like some tiny serrations. I'm a little hesitant about tiny serrations after a couple bad reprofile jobs. I hope these come in at or less than 15 degrees.
Could be a photoshop issue. The partially serrated version has different teeth but the ...

Wartstein,
