Re: Stretch in a steel I never heard of v-toku2

Well it arrived and it’s awesome, one problem is it’s huge, and if I am going to carry it on horse back or on a ATV or bush plane, I will need to purchase a good sheath as it doesn’t seem to fit in my pockets, any idea who makes a good sheath, need one for a case trapper also

Re: Stretch in a steel I never heard of v-toku2

I am planning on taking it to 17* profiled edge it’s NIB factory and when it’s time to sharpen someone said all my spyderco shows be taken to about 17* ( chim in if you know better degree ) 17 degrees per side? The Seki made knives can vary, but it’s possibly already at, or close to that angle with...

Re: My 2nd Byrd

Being in the ranch , hunting and fishing industry, the CC Byrd really does box two above it’s weight class, I keep a couple of CC’s and meadowlarks in my work trucks and offshore boat I have no problems using them to clean wild hogs covered up in sandy dry mud, or slicing up 200 Feed bags in a day, ...

Re: Stretch in a steel I never heard of v-toku2

Nice score. As to whether it works well for you it will depend on your uses and sharpening ability. The exposed carbon steel edge area will rust if you don’t wipe it clean and dry it after use. The cladding is stainless. You need to watch that the pivot area and action is kept dry too. The sandwich...

Re: Why is there a PM2 and Para 3 shortage?

Nah. Just too many Native Chiefs on the production line. Standard one, rex45, s90v, now Cutlery shoppe exclusive and St. Nick's exclusive is coming anytime this year. Maybe there's some more we don't know about. The native chief is the new hot star. :D What’s wrong with a NC besides the G-10 scales...

Re: Why is there a PM2 and Para 3 shortage?

Well muchachos IMO some people are snapping up these knives for the secondary internet market I still see them on the internet, but not in the retail store, maybe the switch to s45v and low production is the deal? If I was a manufacturer I would think I would keep making hay till the new steel is av...

Re: Watch out buying on secondary market

Time to try the modern spydies? Full flat grind delicas are pretty fun. Especially the Salt 2 Lc200n. Well I just got a box of knives back front spyderco, and have to say the reground blade are in scary sharp condition and look and open better than NIB very very pleased with the outcome I was so di...

I really like vtoku.
Just like any carbon steel though, it will patina/rust.
Super tough, super easy to sharpen.
I guess I could force patina it like some of our moraknif truck knives

What is meant by ruined? Were the teeth just super worn? (Hence Spyderco suggesting the regrind service?) That should have been visible in photos
Yes sadly, the teeth were just worn too thin for a minor spa treatment, the photos were different from what was delivered and described

Re: Watch out buying on secondary market

Let me clearly state that spyderco did absolutely nothing wrong to my knives, it was the company that sold the knives that did the damage

Re: Watch out buying on secondary market

No I bought them they seemed clean/ not abused, but couldn’t get a good edge on them myself, so I sent them to repair for a factory sharpening, then today received a letter from spyderco to call them, guy I talked to said who ever sharpen them they had ruined them and all needed to be reground , 1. ...
