Re: Obscure But Yet Extremely Cool Past Models
FRN Cricket. This completely changed the game for the Cricket, as it massively improved the knifes grip and made it faster to deploy, while still remaining quite compact. My #3 favorite Spyderco Design, and probably the most useful design for urban EDC tasks I encounter. I rate it as 'obscure' becau...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
I'm on my 4th sharpening/touch up my SE. It's touched up beautifully with a few sets of 3:1 passes on the Gauntlet. I think this is both a function of the Cruwear, but also the wider/shallower SE pattern 'flowing' across the stones really well. It almost feels like a PE blade; not as 'bouncy' like ...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
If only the SE didn’t have the snaggletooth.... It does sort of break my heart that this may be the final time we get a new edition of this really well designed classic. I'm still amazed and delighted we got this second sprint run. That we did is a testament to your relentless cheerleading for the ...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
If only the SE didn’t have the snaggletooth.... So all 4 of mine have had the snaggletooth, and my current EDC probably has the most pronounced 'tooth of the bunch (I chose this one as it was the smoothest to open of the 4.) I was very upset with the snaggletooth situation when the knife first arri...

Re: Stretch XL discussion
I just hope the XL Salt will retain the XLs very fine, pointy tip, and not use the blunter tip employed on most of the Salt models.
To me the fine tip of the XL - reminiscent of the Endura 3 - is really compelling and a welcome change.

Re: Stretch XL discussion
In terms of size and ergos, how does the Stretch XL compare to the Military? Also, for those with the SE version, how does it perform? Does it have the shallow/smoother SE pattern, or is it more spikey? Kinda hoping the XL could serve as a SE Military surrogate until the Mil 2 is released. https://...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
I must admit that I find those VEFF serrations somewhat intriguing. But I'm not sure what the advantages would be over what I currently have now. And the serration pattern on this new Cruwear Ayoob model do just about everything I need to get done so far. But I might just look into the VEFF option ...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
Yikes. Be very careful with power tools! The only time I use a dremel on my knives is to clean corrosion out of the thumb ramp serrations. Its would be with a soft cloth/felt wheel with a bit of polishing compound to strop/polish/deburr the scallops. I'm very tempted to try it. Knife Grinders Austr...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
This is another interesting Tormek SE sharpening video. He achieves first a 110 BESS, then a 69 BESS. Essentially, he only grinds very lightly on the back of the blade, to raise a burr within the scallops, then deburrs the scallops with a fine felt wheel. https://youtu.be/T4LItIdH-FI In another vide...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
Looking at an Ayoob review on Youtube, came across this fellow, who had his PE modded with Veff Serrations. I've never used Veff style SE before, but it sure looks wild. https://i.ibb.co/m6SB7qQ/Screen-Shot-2022-10-27-at-3-35-45-AM.png https://i.ibb.co/ChpH41m/Screen-Shot-2022-10-27-at-3-36-02-AM.pn...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
Bladesteel wise, I like VG10. That will provide the best 'control' for performance between the High Hollow and the current FFG VG10.

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
My current thought is white, which we've used before for sprints. sal Very cool. I had the older 'NASA' White Delica CE sprint, it was a great handle color. Went great with a fresh pair of Nikes. I also think its a nice, friendly color. https://pics.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/spyderco-knives/image...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
After taking this knife camping twice I am missing my high chrome stainless. Just for your information if you are able to get one of the older C-60 Ayoob models with VG-10 blade steel However I do believe that there has to be a way to prevent corrosion on your Cruwear model. The product from Sentry...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
Helping a friend trim her backyard this evening. Sawed down a number of small palm trees, and then had to remove a dozen or more palm fronds from the stalks. Frond stalks are a sort of softwood/grass/vine hybrid material, and the SE Ayoob proved very effective at slicing/sawing through them. It was ...

Re: Falling out of love with serrations
I wound up buying several SE knives based on Vivi's enthusiasm. I wound up selling all of them. I'm definitely a PE type of guy. Yeah, I like the few SE blades I have, but PE is definitely my preference. I have a SE Ladybug on every keychain. I think small blades are the ideal application for SE, w...

Re: Falling out of love with serrations
In terms of Combo Edge, I really would still love to see an experimental Sprint of 'Reverse Combo Edge' on a FFG Endura or similar sized blade. SE in the front, PE in the back. SE front is for pull cutting zip ties/straps/plastic sheet/ tape. PE in the back for whittling, breaking down cardboard. ht...

Re: Spyderco Street Bowie - Serrated option?
If I were issuing knives to a bunch of soldiers, I probably would want the knives be full tang, or at least full length tang. I think the one listed above are all 3/4 length partial width tangs. I dont think tang matters much for solider use. From accounts I've read, soldiers will break the tips of...
