Aogami Superblue or White steel would be preferable. Second HAP40.

Still waiting for a Native 5 in K390. Seems obvious, but then again they are busy.

Glad to hear the project is still alive. Sharpened my Superblue Delica yesterday. It has a thinner grind that I appreciate.

I went to a Manbug for office carry. Many to choose from. The Manbug salt became number 1.

Re: What is the best steel for retaining high sharpness?
Not sure if ZDP-189 is appropriate. I do find when it gets sharp, it is so aggressively sharp with all those carbides, but it the way it breaks down is impressive.

Re: What is the best steel for retaining high sharpness?
I hope we see a Native 5 in 52100. I have the Military 52100 sprint and the steel and heat treat are ideal for maintaining a fine edge. Perhaps it may happen if 52100 remains available in sheet form for Spyderco.

Re: I said I bought my last knife but I was wrong
The OP may find that Pacific Salt will find its way into the pocket and more use than intended. Light weight and simple to maintain, easy edge touch ups. A good cutting tool.

Endura ZDP-189 for most everything. Manbug SE in H1 if I don’t carry the Endura.

I guess this is easy for me. Manbug salt has been a constant companion. I use it more than any other knife.

Re: Gayle Bradley - 5 Year review
I have a GB1 that has become my main edc. Not sure why I let it rest for so long. Exceptional cutting tool and my best folder. This includes some CRK’s, the GB1 is just made to cut.

Re: K390 discontinuations?
I am puzzled by the lack of a K390 Native 5. Waiting for the 15V, but K390 in a Native 5 has been on the want list for some time.

Re: Spyderco Military Observations
Keeping with the Military 1 theme, I wanted to say thanks to Spyderco. I asked for another batch of S110v Military to be produced and they came through. I have had it for about a year. Pulled it out today and must say it’s near perfect. Nice work by the knife makers.

Re: 52100 Native Chief?
Spyderco does a nice job on 52100. The Military is excellent. A native chief would be great in that long slime blade. They could thin it out given the 52100 stability.
