Re: The upcoming Salt 2 ffg: Spydercos (Mini-) Bugout alternative and more? Perfect ultralight hiking knife?

Hey Gernot/Wartstein, (and others who'd be interested too) 51 grams / 1.798 ounces (lighter than a Bugout) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50989681762_6577687ba2_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50988870013_31f7c41b4a_k.jpg Finally got the "Hyker" model :-) I'm pretty happy and excited...

Re: The upcoming Salt 2 ffg: Spydercos (Mini-) Bugout alternative and more? Perfect ultralight hiking knife?

I guess I´ll start a dedicated thread about that "marketing thing" tomorrow. I could imagine that it would open a bit of a new market for Spyderco if they made a second version of the Salt 2 ffg in LC200N, gave it perhaps a wire clip and a different handle color (like bright blue or forest green......

Re: Spyderco "Hyker"

Nice job with the reprofiling of the blade silhouette. It looks very smooth. I've heard various takes on LC200N's edge retention vs. VG-10, some saying equivalent, some saying one or the other takes the lead. I'd be curious to see some testing. Maybe there's data out there I'm not aware of. VG-10 t...

PM2 M4 last week - and decided to sell my backup copy. Chaparral FRN today - I'm on the fence if I am going to keep or sell. CG Something big in the works?? Hike with the SE endura this morning, and this afternoon...Spyder Throwers! Guys, if you don't own a set of these, you should! They are a whole lot of fun. I've gotta work on my grouping, but for now I'm just happy to be hitting my target. ;) https://i.imgur.com/IrsSqNf.jpg Did you go with medium? CG

Re: Mule Team G10 handle "too small" ? Does not cover tang fully

Same here. I have around a half dozen of the HT G-10 scales from SFO and HT. They are all slightly undersized. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I can get along with it just fine. On a side note - I have seen some unstable handle material on fixed blades that have shrunk to about the same conditio...

Re: First Wharncliffe ... been thinking about these for a while

Have been cutting nothing but packages (cardboard boxes, packing tape, envelopes) with this knife since I received it so not much new to report other than it excels at these tasks and the vg-10 factory edge has been holding up well! I snack on Serranos from time to time, a very thin slice at a time....

Re: Seki or Golden Yellow?

Neither.

I had a yellow Salt 2 and it showed dirt more than any other FRN color I have.

I am going to try the green this next go round.

Re: Exclusive Questions for Sal, Kristy, or Michael Janich

My guess - Spyderco is now transitioning from S30V for their regular production knives and is making this steel available to dealers and distributors; Spyderco will likely do/or have option to do same knives as regular production knives, but in SPY27. Can these two steels exist in the line-up side x...

Re: The upcoming Salt 2 ffg: Spydercos (Mini-) Bugout alternative and more? Perfect ultralight hiking knife?

I purchased 2 bugouts and a Salt 2 SE from REI online (all with the annual/semi annual discount coupon :D ). I just visited their website before making this post and see the Salt 2 SE is no longer available there. :( I have sold all three of these knifes and will be purchasing the Salt 2 Wharncliffe...

Re: CANIS.

Handled it at the SFO. I had to make myself do it because it has zero eye appeal to me. (Having enough prior experiences I know my eyes can get it wrong). Was totally impressed with the knife and it is now on my shortlist. Had to try an inexpensive Wharncliffe first to see if I'm ok with Wharncliffe...

Did Spyderco do a 2021 knife lapel pin?

Started collecting these along the way; didn't notice one for 2021.

Maybe in the works? I would like to keep collecting these.
