I have been wondering what these numbers and letters mean on some blades that I see for sale? There seems to be no reason for them, and many are offered as new, unused knives. The one pictured below is from the Country Knives website. It is the “113V” by the bug that I am referring to. Thank you!

It belonged to someone that was/is a member in the Collectors Club.

Re: Numbers and letters on blade
113 is one of our collector's club numbers and the 'V' is for variant. We originally had six collector number when the club started, but were persuaded to give up two. Our numbers are 60, 72, 112, and 113. We received four of every knife that Spyderco makes.

Not always. There are some caveats to the way it works but in short, collectors club knives are not sold direct to consumer. They require the customer to purchase them through a retailer.Aladinsane wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 11:09 amHmm…so that would mean that a knife with this on the blade is previously owned unless you get it as a member of the “Collector’s Club”?
In this situation, the retailer owns the collectors club number and chose to sell the knife as part of their own retail inventory.
In case it wasn’t clear, @N. Brian Huegel is the owner of Country Knives and the 113 collector club number.

Oooh! Now things are becoming clearer! It’s difficult to sift through all the noise on internet searches! Makes much more sense now.Mushroom wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 11:20 amNot always. I had no idea that @N. Brian Huegel was the owner of Country Knives! Small world!
I don’t think I will participate in the Collector’s Club as a member, but I think I understand the significance of the numbers.
