I was going to post something to see how everyone made out. Where there a lot of knives this time, if I remember correctly there were not too many last year.

This one was definitely quite, only one mention on Facebook and nothing on this forum which was odd.

I do find it odd it was not mentioned on here in advance. Must have been a reason for that.

I went it was excellent. The Spyderco crew was always helpful, the new facility was beautiful. They had a wonderful breakfast area set up with many drinks and breakfast items. The selection of knives was much better than last year. They charged 7.5% sales tax which was new. We got there at 8:15 and were about 25 people ahead of us. Best of all it was sunny and warm.

The OpFocus sale isn't the huge party that the fall sale is. It is mostly the local first responders. I heard several "I don't know much about knives" comments from shoppers, and passed out a bit of information here and there. The selection was much smaller than the fall sale, but still seemed overwhelming to many. Rather than having baskets overflowing (some were, but not many) people were picking up a few pieces and going on. Not a lot of sprints and exclusives, but I did see a couple of Stormtrooper Smocks. There was a square of NIB knives on clearance, and one of open firsts - no boxes, but still fully warrantied - to choose from.

There were more of us overnighting this year. The last two years, I was the lone whacko, but I had two fellows to keep me company this year. Even so, when I checked out and left, there was no line waiting to get in.

I'll add my thanks to Pokey's for a job well done!

Always tempted to go to this one, but if I ever make the 1700-mile journey, I will probably save it for the fall sale.

Awesome to hear there was a much bigger selection than last year.

They do, including contests, etc. On the good side Spyderco interacts with us on there, I have seen very few if any reply's to comments made on Facebook to Spyderco posts. Plus, the Calander contest, if that was ever post on Facebook I would never have a chance.

Wish I could attend the fall seconds sale. But I don't see it happening anytime soon. As someone living in Europe that's almost impossible for me. If only there were online seconds sale. Think that's the only option for all the folks outside of US.

I am definitely grateful that the calendar contest is kept on the forum! 🙏

Don't feel bad. I live in the US but I'm over 1300 miles (2100 km) away from Golden. So it's almost impossible for me too. I would definitely take advantage of an online 2nds sale.

I’m 1204 miles away. My son and I went. $290 total flight and rental car each. Flew in at 7:00am out at 9:00pm same day. I bought 9 knives I’ll keep two and sell 7 to finance the trip. It was fun. A lot of fun. I’m keeping a Para3 lw magnacut and a pm2 magnacut with the yellow and black scales. So it can be done if you want to go bad enough. We’ve done the same thing for the fall sale.

Absolutely, especially if you have a CC with points to make the flight free. I think I have enough points for a free flight there and back from SW just for work travel. Plus as you said selling a few knives if needed to help finance additional cost.

Unfortunately, in my case, I tend to travel a lot for work, so leavening my wife alone with the dog and kids for me to buy more knives “that I don’t need” is not something I want to press.
