Question about the Manix 2 XL
Question about the Manix 2 XL
Hello forum members, I wanted to ask a question. Taking advantage of the Father's Day deals, I'm interested in purchasing the Manix 2 XL in SPY27. I’ve read in older forum posts that the XL model tends to develop some side-to-side blade play. Do you know if this issue still occurs, or has it been improved through ongoing refinements?
Thanks in advance for any responses and for sharing your experience. Much appreciated!

Re: Question about the Manix 2 XL
I haven't experienced the problem of side-to-side blade play on the Manix XL.
Seems like a good question for @vivi .

That's a loaded question with an unsubstantiated premise. A better question might be, "Are old forum posts describing a real problem, or are the posts from people who just need to adjust the pivots?"

Re: Question about the Manix 2 XL
I checked out two M2 XL knives and that was the exact issue with one of them. The other was the lock was so stiff it was very difficult to operate with one hand (and my hands ain't dainty by a long shot).

Re: Question about the Manix 2 XL
I have an S30V Manix 2 XL and it has zero lateral blade play, locked or not. And I keep the pivot loose enough that it easily falls shut when the lock is released.
I bought mine second hand with no box, so I have no idea how old it is.

What better person to answer a Manix question than someone named Manixguy!

Re: Question about the Manix 2 XL
My Manix 2XL in S30V is an absolute rock, no play in any direction whatsoever. Highly recommend this knife, it's a great cutter and workhorse :)
Re: Question about the Manix 2 XL
I have six different Manix 2XL models from older discontinued to current production runs. Not a single one of them was ever received loose.
Now I will say I take a couple of torx drivers to all the screws of mine soon as I get them. Making sure all assembly screws are huck tight. Then I set up my blade pivot screw to my own preference which is way loose, probably way more so than most.
Still not any lateral shaking in any of my Spyderco knifes for that matter. There just freaking awesome knives...
