Re: «Other» comparison pics thread
I scrolled through my archive, and it was hard to find anything other than Spyderco, but I did manage to find a few.
In later comparison pictures I've developed a habit of lining up the heel of the edge as it gives the most interesting comparison IMO, but I can see there has been some variation to my approach over time.
From top: BM Bugout, Native 5 LW, Chaparral LW, DF2

This may seem like a weird one, but it makes sense to me being my two most used hunting knives; Fällkniven WM-1, Native 5 LW

The lightweight hiker trio; Salt 2, Salt, BM Bugout

Native 5 LW, Salt 2, BM Bugout, BM 940, Spydiechef

Detent slippies: Fox BlackFox Bean Gen 2, Zero Tolerance 0230

Edit:
Found this one too. Not the most useful alignment, but you can at least compare OAL and grip area; Lil'Native, BM Bugout

How do these do as hunting knives? I’m assuming well since you brought them up. I like the look of the Fallknivenaicolainen wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 8:58 am

Re: «Other» comparison pics thread
Absolutely. I bought the Fällkniven 25 years ago, realizing soon after I entered military service that I needed a good knife. Didn’t know anything about knives at the time, but the WM1 was recommended to me by a trusted colleague at a gun store where I used to help out part time during my school years.RugerNurse wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 3:20 pmHow do these do as hunting knives? For many years it was my only good knife, so using it as my go-to hunting knife was a decision made without much thought or analysis.
While I’ve always been satisfied with the WM1, it’s only the last 7-8 years after getting into knives as a hobby and acquiring more high performance knives that I realize how good of a choice the WM-1 has been for me. And It’s actually still the hunting fixed blade I reach for most of the time.
In later years my Fällkniven WM-1 has been challenged for absolute pocket time by the Native 5 salt. After realizing I don’t need the strength of a fixed blade most of the time, I just have come to prefer the more convenient carry and access of a folding knife whenever appropriate. While the N5 is slightly different, I feel it’s very similar where it counts, and the strong action, care free materials and easily maintained construction made it an appealing and quite obvious candidate when transitioning from fixed to folding.
I know quite a few hunters on here prefer larger knives for hunting, but I’ve never missed having more blade length. A drop point of moderate length provides excellent tip control when gutting larger game and don’t want to puncture any of the intestines. It’s also an appropriate size for smaller game like hare and birds or just gutting the occasional trout if I combine my hunt with some fishing on the side.

Re: «Other» comparison pics thread
I finally received my Civivi Buster FG. This one that I've been excited about because I really love the Vision FG, and this is the large brother to that exceptional knife.
The Buster is big. It's almost identical to the Military 2 in every dimension. But the shape and design is very different. The Buster has a completely straight Wharncliffe blade and a neutral blade angle. It is also heavy, at almost 6.5 oz (the Mili 2 is 4.3 oz). The blade stock is 4mm thick.
It feels more like a competitor to the Manix 2 XL though. Tough and hard use. The G10 has a very grippy texture. The blade feels like guillotine when it swings shut. And of course the Snecx SuperLock is extremely strong.
The fit and finish is perfect, as is the norm for Civivi. The grind lines are perfect. and it's very sharp out of the box. The Nitro-V steel should be adequate to most any task. And for $97, it is a great bargain. They're sold out everywhere now, but I'm sure there are more coming.
I'm looking forward to carrying it and using it more
