Shaman CPM-S45VN Black DLC Blade Smoky Gray Canvas Micarta C229MGYS45BKP Smoky Mountain Knife Works (USA) coming soon for $292.50.

I wanted to start a new thread on this one, very good-looking knife though I still don't understand DLC on a stainless blade. I hope they come out with a Satin version in the future and SMKW keeps the gray canvas micarta in the future Spyderco runs.

Anyone have any experience with S45VN? I am assuming is very similar to S30, S35, XHP, etc.

Price seems high but 2-3 years ago when BHQ dropped their M4 Shaman's they were $270ish, so with inflation this is not far off.

Great looking knife, but now that the Bodacious exists I doubt I'll ever try a Shaman.

DLC on stainless must be either an aesthetic or light-discipline choice and, I have to admit, I do like the appearance of a black blade. Still, given the choice I'll usually pick bare metal.

Black blade with certain color handles looks amazing, and this is one of them. Though I feel the Shaman love fest that lasted a short time a few years ago, has already passed. Had they done this with a Bodacious, this would be a hot topic!

Like the Shaman a lot, tank of a knife, but I am definitely curious about the Bodacious.

So the blade show has gone. Anyone hear what’s up with these? Did anyone handle one yet?

Yep, patiently waiting on a Bodacious in uncoated Cru-wear, no matter the handle material, or color!

Their website says it drops June 19th now.

Was expecting to see some posts/YouTubes from Blade Show on people getting them. And was hoping I'd get the email saying they are available last Friday/Saturday.... Guessing they were just delayed a bit.

Looks like SMNW has this exclusive Shaman on sale, $229.95 Maybe to align with the "national knife day" theme that is present today

great looking knife.
funny comments though.

DLC increases corrosion resistance on stainless steels too,not just carbon steels.

on S30V its the difference between spot rusting a blade after a day of summer IWB carry VS approaching salt like levels of corrosion resistance.

Have they worked out the Shaman issues via CQI? If so could be a good buy. Although I think a knife center exclusive in S90V might be running cheaper.

The KC S90V is $238, I might have to jump on that one but this one looks pretty great too.

I'm also wondering if these have any QC issues like the tip being exposed. I'm tempted.

I think Sal said that issue was identified, primarily on the SPY-27 version, fixed and is no longer an issue. Plus these are the second round of these, more chance to address any issues that might have occurred in the first batch.

Have this one in hand today. The scales have a wonderful soft feel, some of the best micarta scales I have held. And since they are Spyderco factory scales they have the rounded profiles.

This is definitely my favorite Shaman by far!
