My three favorite Spyderco folder designs

#1

Military 1 was my first love. Then the C95 Manix impressed me with it's secure, robust feel. The release of the Police 3 caught my attention and quickly became a favorite.

I'd pick the Police as my #1 design. It feels perfectly sized for my hand.

What are your top 3?

This is a fun game. Here are mine:
  • Delica - This is a new realization for me. It is a lot of knife (especially with all the steel options) in a small (but not too small) package.
  • Lil' Temp 3 LW - Probably the most comfortable handle I've used. I wish the blade were thinner (imagine a hollow grind on this thing), but that's not the purpose behind the knife.
  • Police 4 - I hardly ever see the need for a knife that long. Guess I lead a boring life. Still, that thing is comfortable in hand and in pocket. This model caused me to re-evaluate how much I like larger knives (I kinda wrote them off earlier).

My no.1 is Chaparral because it just works great for most tasks I use a pocket knife for, it disappears in the pocket, and packs a lot of blade in a small package.
No.2 is Leafjumper because when I need something bigger than chaparral it hits all the right spots: the handle, the blade shape, handle forward design instead of a choil. Choils for me are great but only on sub 3” knives.
No.3 is UKPK because with the choil the ergos of this knife are just perfect for my hand. Almost like it was molded around it. However, I really wish a version with a lock would become available as I do often cut staff that grabs the blade and forces it to close. I missed all the caly 3 releases as I was not really collecting then, but to be honest I think I would prefer a UKPK with a compression lock.

As much as I love a Military 1 and 2 and Chiefs and my beloved Ayoob, those really are the top 3 for me. The Autonomy's are very slept on models.

Millie 1 or 2
Caly 3 or 3.5
Dragonfly 2

honorable mention because it's so difficult to leave the Manix 2 off of the podium.

1) Delica
2) Caly 3
3) Chaparral LW

#1 stays pretty consistent, but I can rotate my Sage LW in place of the Caly 3 and a Rhino in place of my Chaparral LW.

Sounding like a broken record here, but these three models cover all my EDC needs. PM2, Native5, and the Military. Waiting on the right Military 2 to mix it up a bit.

I used to carry my Autonomy 2 all the time. It's a great knife and I'd love to find another one. I don't carry it because I'm afraid of losing it and I think they're out of production.
I even bought 2 extra springs for it.

Yes, and then it fits nicely. I remove the first one after the guard.
