SPY27 g10 Manix 2 question

#1

Post by prndltech »

Does anyone know for sure if it is skeletonized? It seems like in some videos it has skeletonized liners, but the listed weight is the same as the s30v with non skeletonized liners. I know it was being debated last year but now that it’s been out for a minute I was hoping one of you could help.

Thanks in advance!

I have owned maybe 10 or 12 sprint run Manix 2's. I have never seen a sprint run or exclusive Manix 2 that had solid liners.

The only ones I've seen with solid liners have been standard production runs with the standard steel. I don't think I've ever owned a S30V version that wasn't a sprint, so my experience is somewhat limited.

Hopefully someone with one in hand can verify for sure.

The only recent one I can think of is the CruCarta model. For some reason they use solid liners on that, which is why it's so heavy.

The standard S30V and the Crucarta both have full liners. Sprints are skeletonized since this is also standard production so i asume the Spy27 variant has solid liners aswel.
The reason for the crucarta besides it being standard production is because the micarta is not strong enough to handle skeletonized liners.

I wonder if something changed about their micarta production recently? The more recent Military 2 CruCarta has skeletonized liners, and the upcoming Natives apparently don't even have liners.

Of the CruCarta line the Manix 2 is the only one with solid liners. It makes no sense at all. I think it should have been an inline CQI change a decade ago at least for the S30V as well.

I have a SPY27. It has skeletonized liners.

Thank you!
And I 100% agree, they all should have them at this point.

All the others, we know about, I have/have had MANY Manix in my day.

All the Manix 2 and Manix 2XL I have, all are skeletonized. I have one that is a sprint run 204P steel, the others are S30V and S110V steel, regular stock knives.

I never had a CruCarta one. Thanks for that info.

It might be because of the Micarta. Didn't the Calypso Micarta warp?

I wonder how much the price would increase for the base model to have skeletonized liners.

Well there is a noticable price difference where i live. The Crucarta is about 45 euro cheaper then the Spy-27. What is allot and i do not think cruwear is that much cheaper then Spy-27.
