Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
Have there been any whispers or rumors of any upcoming Bodacious variations? I'm ready to buy one with CruCarta, or S90V and CF.
Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
I'm sure these configurations are coming, though I don't think Spyderco has announced them yet. Check Buddafucco's excellent list to stay updated:

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
I'd be interested in a CruCarta Bodacious. For purely subjective reasons I don't dig the smooth G10 on the base model.
I'm hoping St. Nick's and CutleryShoppe commission exclusives in 4V and CTS-XHP respectively.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
I'm surprised the s90v/cf model hasn't been out yet. It's always the first sprint run for the Golden models. I want a REX45 one, and hopefully a 15V one
Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
The KnifeJoker exclusive DLC Cruwear and Forest Green G-10 would probably be my favorite to hope for.
Knifecenter smooth black G-10 and satin Cruwear would be the second.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
Bdubs808, I haven't seen any hints at a possible variant of the Bodacious yet. Oddly it's all crickets. I have seen members bring it up as a desire, myself included, casually in some threads. But there's never been a reply (that I've seen) about it being a consideration.
I'm honestly wondering if sales demand is actually suffering a bit for the model.
On the other hand, constantly seeing about how far backlogged manufacturing queue is, with some model variants talked about years ago, still to see the light of day.
Saw that Sal yesterday mentioned in a thread that their Golden expansion is now complete! So hopefully that means more cool models and variants can get into production along side the usual bread and butter products.
I haven't picked up a Bodacious yet, but a BBB would have me putting it in the cart immediately.
Or how about something funky again like a 52100, or a built tough Bodacious with 3V?

I have the regular s30v one and like it, but have always thought how perfect that Cruwear would be. I put micarta on mine to make it a great camping knife, but Cruwear would make it even better (or PD#1, since they've recently used that, and the whole Crucible thing going on right now).
M4 / MagnaCut / H2 / S30V / Micro-Melt PD#1 / SPY27 / 10V
Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
The gist I get from listening to Eric speak for several years now is that Spyderco has a warehouse full of steel, probably to smooth out availability and flexibility (or lack thereof) in the market. I doubt that the steel is being provided "just in time". I wouldn't be surprised if Spyderco had a year or so supply of this and that grades that they regularly use. I could be way off base though as I have no first hand knowledge.Rival22 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 12:21 pmI have the regular s30v one and like it, but have always thought how perfect that Cruwear would be. Also Niagara probably. Not just from Crucible.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
What ever happened to Knifeworks M4/CF? That would be the one.
Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
Well it probably goes without saying that I'm down for almost any combo, but top of my list has to be:
15V BBB
St Nick's 4V
CruCarta
MagnaCut Salt
15V BBB
St Nick's 4V
CruCarta
MagnaCut Salt

The fact it hasn't even seen SPY27 makes me wonder why the model is neglected.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
It hasn't been selling. It didn't sell anywhere at the original price and was panned. Small dealers with just a couple on hand didn't sell out right from the first release, which is never a good sign. At MAP sales it sold a bit more but still not particularly well. I was hopeful the price drop for this year would reheat sales, but even though it's available at $165-180 it's just sitting around.SpeedHoles wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 11:38 am

I really, really want a salt model and CF/s90v sprint. I imagine from Spyderco's side it would be hard to justify either, but it's also sort of a chicken or egg scenario because without something like a sweet sprint or exclusive to try to heat up the market it appears sales won't be good. They did release a s90v/CF Siren despite those sales being bad post lock-gate...but you can still get that from dealers despite having been released years ago and priced maybe $60-80 under MAP every sale.
Still holding out hope though
Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
As unlikely as it may be, I would be most excited for REX45 and Burnt Orange G10!
I like CruWear a lot, but I have a pretty good supply in favorite models. CruCarta (natural canvas) could move me.
15V and MC would be real hard to resist! So would K390.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
I’m keeping my powder dry until a steel a bit more compelling than S30V comes along on it. I’ve not had stellar performance from S30V and wouldn’t buy a knife at that price point when the SE S35VN Tenacious and its siblings are available for such a bargain price at the moment.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
I would be the first sprint is Carbon Fiber + S90V, Sal’s favorite.
I bet the first variant is Spy27, followed by Crucarta.
I’ll be waiting for the Crucarta.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
I'm a fan of the model. But it's one of those knives that until you use it, you might not be as drawn to it And there are probably a lot of Shaman owners who realize that they don't often carry/need larger folders and aren't in a hurry to add another one.
It could benefit from an in-demand sprint, but you'd almost have to be on the front end of a product line. Crucarta, avocado, salt, even 15v, those are popular of course, but there are enough models on the market that you can try that configuration without getting out of your comfort zone. People seem much more willing to buy their fifth PM2 (or whatever their favorite is), than to try something different.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
Ya know what's wild, I was a huge Shaman fan but I haven't used one since getting a Bodacious, and the other day I pulled one out and it felt absolutely foreign to me. It's sort of a one grip design for me, it's too small behind the choil and it feels awkward so I only feel right holding it on the choil. I've also been using longer handled knives like the Military 2 and Chief which are a lot more spacious in the grip.

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?
Wondering where the Bodacious is available from an authorized Spyderco Dealer for $165 to $180? There were some less than $200 prices around black Friday, and other random dates. Otherwise the price is $225+ from almost all dealers?phaust wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 4:28 pmIt hasn't been selling. It didn't sell anywhere at the original price and was panned.
