Seki FRN lightweight pivot D-bolt washers

I've noticed that sometimes the Seki lightweight models come with a stainless washer between the show side scale and pivot screw and sometimes they don't (not talking about the bronze pivot washers). This seems to vary even between identical models.

Anyone know the purpose of these washers or why they're sometimes included and other times not?

They probably stop the scale from cracking from over tightening that pivot screw. I have one on my Endela but not my Endura. Not sure how they decide when they use them.

It's not just on FRN models.

My Q-Ball and Hap40 Lum Tanto have them, too.
