This might be the steel that may make me buy my very first Endela. (unless I happen to find a very good deal for one)

With the exact same blade shape and in SE, it would be great. By exact same blade shape, I mean if they don't make the tip any more rounded than it already is. The Endela blade doesn't need to be "sheepfooted" at the tip like the Salt 2 and the Pac Salt 2.

I have my fingers crossed hoping to see it in the 2025 catalog. I think it would be a great fit in the Salt line . MG2

I would get these in PE and serrated if they were a real thing.

People have been asking for an Endela ("mediterranean") Salt for years, here viewtopic.php?p=1398623#p1398623 for example is a thread about an Endela Salt I started in early 2020 already
In the linked post Sal says he´d be watching the sales of the Endela before thinking about a Salt - version...

Wonder if the Endela perhaps does not sell well enough to justify a "Salt" version?

@sal : Perhaps you could give us some inside?

One thing seems to be pretty obvious: There IS a gap in the Seki Salt lineup when it comes to the Endela/Stretch/PM2 size range (if one does not count the rather specialized Atlantic Salt)...
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

A bit of an alternative to an actual Endela Salt would be if the Atlantic Salt (handle) came with another blade shape than "just" the sheepsfoot (see also "my" poll here viewtopic.php?t=88094 )

This would spare Spyderco the costs for new FRN molds (which a "linerless Endela" would require)

The Atlantic Salt is pretty pm2-ish in several dimensions and shape, just a lot lighter and with a more compact handle that still offers the same grip area

But then I don´t think they´d invest in another, more "mainstream" bladeshape on the Atlantic, cause it has the old volcanoe texturing and the barrel clip from which they moved on with the Salt and Pac Salt already...

I like the idea of “Mediterranean Salt” as a name because the Endela is “in the middle” between the Delica and Endura. For my day-to-day uses the Endela is that “just right” size.

And it’s funny because when the Endela first came out my gut impression was, who needs that? I do, that’s who!

- If all or most knife users were able and willing to modify a tip (which probably is not the case though), I´d still like to see an Endela Salt with the more rounded / sheepsfooty kind of Pac Salt and Salt tip (cause so it can be made pointier by those who want that without loosing edge length - while vice versa "sheepsfooting" a pointy tip WILL always cost a bit of cutting edge)

- What I´d totally hope for though:
That an Endela Salt would get an a bit longer, more handle filling blade, just like it is the case with Delica and Salt 2 (the latter offers more blade and cutting edge)

- Also I´d want an Endela Salt to get the wider opening hole (and by that a bit taller blade), just like Pac Salt and Salt 2 have over the Endura and Delica

Same with me regarding the need as I had already had multiple Delica/enduras.

I bought my first in K390 and was very impressed. Stretch 2 in K390 has eclipsed for now (as it feels better in hand to me and is similar size) but I agree that Endela is a great design.

We'd need to make new tooling.

I have always liked Gernot's suggestions to put a leaf blade into the Atlantic Salt handle.

Having recently acquired my first Endela, I don't think i would buy an Endela Salt. I have 2 Pacifics and 3 Native Salts, a couple Chefs, a Dragon hawk and a Subway Bowie. I'm mostly full up on Salts, I haven't even gone for the Manix like I thought i might.

I'll leave this here as a placeholder for the H2 Endela Salt. This one has a PD1 blade swapped into a VG10 variant handle.

Thanks for the input, Sal!

In 2020 you said you´d be watching its sales before deciding about an Endela Salt version (viewtopic.php?p=1398623#p1398623) and in April this year that you´d perhaps ask Eric what his plans might be on that (viewtopic.php?p=1780356#p1780356) - so I assume the sales are not there in numbers that would justify the investment in tooling for a linerless Salt version?

Anyway, I personally would really love to see this come to life... especially with an a bit longer blade than the Endela offers, but the same handle dimensions (resp. a bit thicker, like Salt 2 and Pac Salt 2 have thicker handles than Delica and Endura)

The Endela, one of the best! It fits my hand perfect and does make a great EDC. I own several spyderco's but keep coming back to this one and the PM2.

I designed the Endela to meet the new 3.5" length laws that were popping up all over the place. We made it with liners like the others in the family. When we made the Stretch 2XL, Eric decided to make it liner-less so we could add a Salt version.

God willing sal I hope to get an Endela as my next Spyderco, probably an Emerson Wave Model. That Byrd Scimitar concept I am eager for, too. I so appreciate you.

I think this is a good idea, have you ever seen the Flatiron?
It’s a similar principle but used the Rescue (first series, moulded clip) scales with a hollow ground drop point blade.
