A Lil Bodacious would be cool

#1

Post by Rival22 »

I'm a big fan of the Bodacious... It might be a slightly unpopular opinion, but I prefer it over the Shaman. Thinner stock, no need for the choil with your hand being able to get right up against the base of the blade, etc.

But, it's a little bigger that what I usually EDC in my life.

A smaller one (about 1" less total length) would be awesome.

Delica sized... probably a bit more similar to the Leafjumper (or more so Lil Temperance), with the more hand-filling handle, but with the clean lines of the "ramp-less" bodacious blade shape and compression lock.

With the forward finger guard and no choil, you could have a 3" ish blade, with darn near full length cutting edge. And with the finger guard placement, still have a full four finger grip on a 4"-4.25" ish handle.

Thoughts? Agreements? Complete mockery of my idea? :rofl

I like the Bodacious enough that I'll check out any variation they make, but I'd actually prefer going the other direction and make an XL. But going smaller is getting closer to the no choil Native 5 concept that has been discussed here pretty in depth so I think it would be popular.

Following the Tenacious family of names...

If they ever make an XL version they should call it the Audacious 🤣

I agree 100%.

I think the bodacious looks great but it just seems way too big.

JK :p Count me in if they ever run an XL.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I'm with David, I'd rather see bigger than smaller here.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Bodacious is probably no.1 on my wishlist right now.

Native 5 sized bodacious would be an instant buy.

I think a Lil’Bo might work if its handle is no shorter than the Lil’Temp3’s (another handle-forward model).

Shorter, in my hand, means a dangling pinkie, which runs counter to the HF idea, as I understand it.

LOL good one. If Spyderco shrinks the Bodacious I volunteer the name: Sagacious.

I'd love a Native-sized Bodacious with a back lock, though I'm not sure if it's possible to have the cutting edge go so far down and still have a kick to keep the edge from crashing into the lockbar when closed.

They would have to utilize the handle-forward concept that the Rock Jumper uses, and even then it probably wouldn't be easy to work out while keeping it "Native 5 shaped".

I haven't handled the Bodacious but a Lil' Bodacious closer to 3" (~76mm) would have my attention. Full serrated edge in all-black DLC would get my money for sure. I don't even care what steel they use.

So OP is looking for either a skinny Lil Temperance or a handle forward Sage 5?

This really puts things in perspective. Does not seem much bigger than Sage when folded

A Lil Temp with no thumb ramp is pretty much it.
