Centofante 3 with screws?!
Hello all!
Just received a new Centofante 3 in the mail (from a reputable store I should add) this week and was really surprised to see screws holding the scales and pivot back together. Has Spyderco secretly switched to a screw construction on the regular run of the Centofante 3? I couldn't find any information on that topic anywhere.
Cheers!

[EDIT: Deleted, cause I was completely wrong - could lead to confusion.
Listen to the guys in the comments below who actually know what they are talking about...
As far as I recall my Centofante even had a pinned pivot (which I did not like too much).

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Hmm. I prefer it that way, but I agree it doesn't seem right. Someone will let us know.
Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Probably just a rolling CQI change.
Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
I'm thinking that Nick is right with CQI. Only one side has grooves for the FRN standard version. The non show side is flat and looks similar to what you have there. The new sprint version is screw construction, so it would not be too far fetched to see a change like that on the standard version.

@JSumm , @Mushroom ,
of course you are right and I was completely wrong.
Though I actually owned a Centofante 3 for quite some time I completely forgot that only one side has those "grooves" / "channels"...
Consequently I deleted the silly part of my first post here, so that no one gets confused.

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Put in an order for one of these with Dack a few weeks back. Never be in a rush with Dack, as they are very up front with taking 30 days to ship, but now I’m hoping it’s one of these screw together models! Good things come to those who wait.
Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Makes sense, why go through the effort of working out that exclusive just to only do it once?
Does it have 2 liners?

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
If true, this is exciting news and puts the Centofante 3 back on my list. Whether or not its rational, the pinned construction always gave me pause.
2mm stock, 3+ in blade sans choil, and a hollow grind was always an exciting combo to consider

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Thanks sal and Wartstein for the welcome!
Long time lurker over here but this I thought was worth sharing. Yes, I agree with the CQI theory, it would make sense! Definitely a nice surprised as this makes an already excellent EDC folder even better IMO. I am fine the VG10 steel but the lack of a screw construction always bothered me on my old Centofante 3.
Evil D: only one liner on clip side (see picture)

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Could you say whether it has a hollow grind or a flat grind on this version?
Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
So can we PLEASE get the 4 back?!?! Why deny us this awesomeness when wharnies are so commonly loved?

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
This thread made made me get out my Centofante 3 yesterday and I couldn’t help but to admire the design - It is just so good! It’s a beautiful profile for a knife but also still maintains excellent ergonomics and cutting capability. Now that it has screw construction, this might be Spyderco’s best current sleeper model!
Fully contoured scales would make this knife shine!
@abbazaba The Centofante 4 is such a good looking knife! Would love to see it brought back in the future, even if only for a sprint.

Re: Centofante 3 with screws?!
Totally on board with a screw construction, hollow grind 3 or 4 in an upgraded steel. Maybe a copper Spyder this time around?
