Hi SEF,

I can tell you that it's very challenging to fit a sword blade shape into a folding knife that works. We haven't been able to do it , yet. I asked Ed Schempp to give it a go and haven't heard back.

I've been working on the knife, I'm on my 3rd attempt. I have the concept in mind, just not proficient at kickback design. I haven't given up!

Oh yes thank you so much, Mr. Schempp! I am thankful for all your labor and effort.
I am so eager to purchase those. My personal preference is blades that are 3.0 mm and thicker.

Have you ever considered using CNC or printing to make a knife? Has anyone asked me to do this in the future?

That would be so cool if Spyderco can use 3d printing or computer numerical control machining to make a flock of Byrd knives.
Are you excited for the Byrd Scimitar? Welcome to the forum.

I have the Byrd Wharncliffe Cara Cara 2. It is one of my favorites.

Hi Hlc,

I'm curious as to who you are and why would anyone ask you "to do this in the future". Do you print knives?
