Knife Washers

Post by SpyderGrill »

I've been carrying the Ayoob sprint this week and notice how smooth this knife works with no washers. Just the blade steel riding against the raised steel liners, metal against metal.

Why do most models have phosphor bronze washers?

Why does the Resilience have both phosphor and nylon washers on each side?

Why does the Para 3 LW only have a washer on 1 side?

FRN salt knives have None.

The Blade HQ Exclusive LUM Tanto, a $280 knife I heard had Nylon washers,,,Why?

Im not nocking the washers, just curious of why some have them and some dont or add a nylon to make up some extra space?

I’m guessing in part it has to do with the reactivity of the particular steels and how corrosion resistant they need the knife to be.

For the Ayoob I just looked it up and it sounds like it was Ayoob’s call
