Which endura to get?
I love the endura design and already have the k390 version. My question is which variant to add to the collection and why?....

Re: Which endura to get?
I’d recommend the Knifejoy 20CV sprint run as it’s the most likely to be unavailable going forward. Second would be a ZDP-189 version also due to its possible demise. After that, a serrated one would be a good variation to have. Personally the wharncliffe serrated version is my own little pocket chainsaw and the one I’d recommend due to its FFG blade.
Re: Which endura to get?
I second the Knifejoy Exclusive. It's a good deal. If it's around for awhile, I may even snag one. The Pac Salts are also a great suggestion. However, those should be around for awhile.

Do you have or would you consider the wharncliffe or Matriarch?
The recent Damascus exclusive looked nice, and I'm sure the new 20CV exclusive wouldn't disappoint.

Re: Which endura to get?
The 20cv handle color looks too much like my k390. Kinda want a bit of a contrast ya know? Surprised no one mentioned the teal s30v .....

Re: Which endura to get?
I do like the suggestion of the Pacific Salt. K390 and LC200N are a bit of opposites, and both excellent steels for their purposes. As an aside, in my personal experience LC200N sharpens up easily to very sharp edges. Won't hold it as long as K390 but as a "worry free" steel in corrosive environments it is excellent.

Re: Which endura to get?
Definitely the teal s30v endura. National knives still has them for $81 when you make a free account and log in. Then if you don’t like the teal, it’s super easy to rit dye. I dyed my handles black and left the backspacer teal for a splash of color. I’ve had the pac salts in h1, wasn’t a fan. Lc200n didn’t hold a candle to s30v IMHO. The s30v has been a super impressive steel for me. It sharpens up very easy, holds a great edge, and strops back to hair shaving for a long long time. I highly recommend the teal model. Best endura model so far in my opinion, and you can’t beat the price.
Edit: I haven’t had any experience with k390, so I can’t compare the two.

The blue handled VG-10 version. The handle color is awesome in person and the VG-10 will surprise you in all around performance.

Re: Which endura to get?
The S30V "Teal" version is nice. The color is actually aqua and not teal. Teal is a dark bluish green color. I don't know why it was misnamed teal, but it is still a nice color and it stands out nicely when you set it down.

Re: Which endura to get?
1.) Just the "basic" VG10 version in a handle color you like.Cowboyfromhell wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 6:55 pmI love the endura design and already have the k390 version. My question is which variant to add to the collection and why?....
You do own a "high edge retention" tool steel Endura already, why not go for a "quick and easy to sharpen, very rustproof" sibling?
2.) Yes, Pac Salt in SE!
For me serrations work better in almost any task, and you could decide between "hard use" sabre hollow H1 and "super slicey" ffg LC200N
3.) Thin red/blue line Endura...
Only VG10 Endura that offers "regular" blade shape and at least half of the edge and a good amoun in SE (since it is combo edge)
4.) Wharnie SE
Must be an amazing perfomer in many tasks
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: Which endura to get?
I came across a vg10 sabre ground blade with stainless handles....this doesn't seem too common.
Re: Which endura to get?
This is what I would say as well, if you're into steels. If you're into handle colors, I reckon the teal S30V would be next up, still a big step up in edge retention from LC200N (not to mention H1) and a moderate step up from VG-10.JSumm wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 7:19 pmI second the Knifejoy Exclusive. Re: Which endura to get?
Might pick up the ZDP-189 version while it's still around.
Good steel, cool color.
The other two are HAP-40 and Superblue.
Not the worse knives you could buy.

Everyone should have one fully stainless Spyderco in their collection.Cowboyfromhell wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:46 amI came across a vg10 sabre ground blade with stainless handles....this doesn't seem too common.

Re: Which endura to get?
Question on Zdp-189.....how does it compare to other steels? I don't have any Zdp in my collection and maybe I should snag one before they are gone forever like some folks above suggested.

Re: Which endura to get?
Larrin has some great info on Knife Steel NerdsCowboyfromhell wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 8:24 amQuestion on Zdp-189.....how does it compare to other steels? Is it a tool steel like my k390 or is it a stainless steel like s30v? Is it hard to sharpen? Is it a tough steel or will it chip easy?....Im tempted on the Zdp as I don't have any spyderco in this steel.
https://knifesteelnerds.com/2019/12/30/ ... overrated/
I don't have any, so no experience with it. From reading, it has a high HRC but very low toughness. Good edge retention. It is called stainless, but from Larrin's testing, does not appear to be very corrosion resistant.
I have never had much interest in it. If toughness is not a factor, I would just assume to stay with 20CV/M390 family. You get better edge retention and corrosion resistant than ZDP from Larrin's write up.
