ladybug lanyard/keychain pics

Post by sethwm »

Hey so I'm new to this whole ladybug thing. I like it a lot, and the setup on my keychain helps me get a better grip. Curious how others have attached lanyards/keychains. Mine isn't super fancy:

I really wish I had taken a picture of the lanyards I just made for my friends ladybugs. I had to get them in the mail in a hurry, and sent them out before I thought to take a pic. I'll see if I can get them to send me a pic when they get to their destination.

I tie a small 550 cord fob onto my Ladybugs and Manbugs. If I'm remembering correctly, what I like to tie is called a cobra stitch lanyard.

They all look like this -

How do you get the cord through the hole? I have a helluva time whenever I do it.

Love these tiny Spyders 🙂
My only LB currently doesn't have anything attached, but you may appreciate the link below if you haven't already seen this thread.

Edit to add: here's one more short thread with more keychains.

I'll usually cut the end so the inner strands aren't frayed at all and then singe the end with a lighter to as thin of a profile as possible and it usually fits through the lanyard hole without issue.

Whatever is mostly on my keys just has a bottle opener attached to it.

I had the Manbug on the ring for a while, but just switched back to the Ladybug. I like the shape of the blade on the Ladybug more for EDC.

I've been loving my ladybug vg-10, but my wife just took it. I decided to get myself a christmas gift and I bought both the ladybug and manbug in K390. really excited to see how it performs. I've had a K390 delica since the spring, and I cut a lot of cardboard with it, still haven't had to sharpen it in over 6 months.

On a related note, does anyone know of a small slip that you can insert the LB or MB into? My Manbug Salt opened in my pocket the other day and sliced me. A slip would be nice to prevent that.

I make what is basically a double ended noose knot, one end through the lanyard hole and the other end on a keyring. I make them just long enough to fill my grip. This makes them so much easier to use and also really helps to keep the knife from clumping on your keys.

I've also used that same setup with just an empty keyring on the end and used a belt keychain clip to clip it onto back at a job I used it for a box knife a lot. The little fob makes one handed opening significantly easier.

If you're going to carry on your keychain I'd suggest tightening the pivot down tight. I had one open on it's own years ago and got a good puncture wound.

I'll second that. I also lost the pivot screw on that knife pictured above, I guess it was loose and came out. I'm usually pretty good about checking that stuff too.

225 cord daisy-chained as a lanyard. Expanded it’s a necklace with a shoelace ferrocerium rod and ceramic scraper

I like the quick release keychains for my Jester. I can take off and put back so easy without having to fiddle around at all. Plus I have extras so I can just as easily swap over to a neck carry. That’s when this setup really shines. Can take it off, open it, close it, and reattach it all one handed. Without needing to take the chain from my neck.

Thanks Seth! But to be honest, I actually like yours more. Looks way more universal and versatile for exactly how I carry/use mine. But I wouldn’t need a pre made setup to swap around. It also opens up belt loops and other locations to clip. Where did you get that clip?
