Will we ever see a Hawkbill in a sprint/exclusive steel?

#1

Post by ZrowsN1s »

Not insult the very capable workhorse steels like VG-10, H-1, LC200N, or S30V.....

But will we ever see a Hawkbill in something exciting? K390, 4V, S90V? 15V?

A HB Ladybug, HB Dragonfly, Tasman, Lil Matriarch, Spyderhawk, Superhawk, Karahawk? Anything?

Am I the only one interested?

I would definitely grab a Lil’ Matriarch and likely a Tasman if they happened.

As much as I love hawkbill blades, I'm not sure how excited I'd be to sharpen an s90v or k390 one. My m4 dodo is enough of a challenge...

I tend to agree, but something like CPM Cruwear would be ideal.

This is what I was thinking too. I've yet to sharpen any CruWear on my Sharpmaker, but I hope the steel will respond well to the medium rods.

I never think about that. I got diamond and CBN rods for the sharpmaker. But if you didnt, I could see that being an issue.

That would be a dream !

FRN or Linerless G10 (also light green ?), it would be awesome either way.

K390 Spyderhawk GO GO GO!

I have absolutely no use for such a knife beyond sheer morbid curiosity but it's a crazy enough idea that I'd buy one. The Spyderhawk is a knife I almost never use and every time I get it out I kinda chuckle to myself when I open it and look at the blade, so adding a crazy steel to the mix will add to the chuckle factor.

Oh, and a FFG LC200N version would also be top of the list.

I would probably pass on one. Though I think it would be pretty cool, it's just not a blade design I'd use frequently enough to find a need for.

I'd buy a K390 spyderhawk. I'd buy a LC200N Spyderhawk. I wouldn't buy another H1 spyderhawk because I have enough of those. Most other hawkbill models don't interest me. Unfortunately everyone clamors for a spyderhawk but once they make it hardly anyone buys them and they sit for quite some time. Maybe a sprint other than H1 would sell better. I wouldn't hold it against spyderco if they didn't do another run.

Vanax SC with a diamond encrusted titanium scales with platinum inlay. Perfect for farm use.

Hahaha, sounds like something that would pop up in the "other's" thread lately.

I would love to see one in AEB-L, 52100, Cruwear or LC200N.

Personally I would like to see a new model of Hawkbill. A larger folder with a choil, like the Stretch, with a Matriarch style blade. Maybe even a XL HawkJumper would do the trick.

Would a HB Caribbean qualify?
I'd happily make that my first compression lock knife, especially if it were the XL version :)

That would be awesome! In keeping with tradition, 52100 with Peel-ply CF with the same milled pattern as the original would make an incredible sprint.

Coating the liners on a regular delica frame seems like the way to go. New frn molds are likely much too expensive for a sprint.
