Typhoon Balisong and Janich Videos

Post by mort »

Hi Mike.

I just bought a Darrel Ralph (DDR) Typhoon balisong kit and your 2 videos. My plan is to take the trainer blade and grind it into a Ronin profile if possible after I have learned the manipulations. Check out DDR's kits.

Dear Mort:

Congratulations! Darrel does great work and his kits are excellent. I will be seeing him at the Blade show next weekend and should be picking up a custom Venturi bali from him.

I'm assuming that one of the videos you bought was my "Mastering the Balisong." Please bear in mind that the footage for that was shot in my Bangkok apartment long before I had access to professional video equipment. The information is very good, but the production quality leaves something to be desired (that's why I am planning to re-shoot it someday soon).

What other video did you get?

Happy flipping!

Stay safe,

I did buy "Mastering the Balisong" both the US and European version(by mistake). On first look I thought you had a 2 volume set. Can't wait to start flipping. Can you recommend any other balisong training materials?

Have fun at Blade.

Thanks,
Fred

Dear Mort:

Jeff Imada's balisong video is also very good. Although mine has a few extra techniques that his doesn't, the production quality of his is better. His two books on the balisong are also classics and are very useful. They are all available from Unique Publications (www.cfwenterprises.com) or Asian World of Martial Arts (www.awma.com).

Although Paladin will not accept returns from the public on videos, e-mail me off-line and I can work something out to compensate you for the PAL video you bought by mistake.

Stay safe,

Mike
