Who likes onions

#1

Post by J Smith »

I play with a Scallion at the gun show saterday for quite a while.Left with out getting it.So I got on knife forums and traded for a green one.Its not often I find a knife that will pull me away from spydies but this thing is just to cool to not have.I also saw the Avolanche, very nice.

Anyone else like this litle gaget knives? It for sure will not replace spyderco for my edc but I will for sure sit around and play with it.

I had a Scallion that was engraved with the Snap-On tools logo. Very cool, I loved the assisted opening. I traded it to a friend for a bunch of handgun ammo though, because it wasn't one of the stock colors; it was anodized some pukey yellow-green-chromate color. It really was ugly. I'll probably get one of the regular green ones later.

Have a Scallion and a Rainbow Leek. Was hoping for one of these but the collaboration did not pan out. Blued Ti bolsters and liners, damascus blade, and mammoth bark ivory scales....sigh

BTW: This is the first public release of the artists concept of this KO prototype. Delta Z made the initial contact on this before closing their doors in March. Would have been sweet.

yah, onions taste good...

oh, you mean the knives! I've looked at the leek and scallion. Had a boa for about a year and sold it off cheap. Was loosening up with my extended playing. Leek should hold up better b/c you can tweak the screws.

Been eyeing one of those Chives...Had a Blackout once upon time and it wasn't too shabby...but that little Chive looks like a sweet little piece.

I have a chive, scallion & two discotinued models both of which are cpm440v. Random Task & Ricochet with G10 scales. I've been beating the Random Task for 2 years and it just takes a few strokes on the strop to keep it razor sharp. Still tight & works smooth.I dropped it out by my truck without knowing it one day and it ended up stuck in the snow & freezing rain before I found it. Brought it in thawed it out, wiped it dry and put a few drops of oil in. Still Works like new. I can't wait to see how the S30V Native I just won on Ebay works.

I have a Chive and I like it. Though not a Spydie, it is well made and the design is sweet. The assisted opening is a cool feature too. I'm not very fond of it any more, I forgot once to slide the safety and the knife opened while I was carrying it IWB. It punctured my belly a bit
I still carry it as a backup from time to time or when a big knife wouldn't be suitable and the Ladybug would be too small.

Vox sorry maybe next time 3 of the big dealers weren't there this time. There was only one dealer that had any at all but he was a rude sort of person with high prices.

I've been very happy with our mini-Task, it's got the cool factor going on, and the G-10 handles are very pretty! RKBA!

I've got a Chive and gave my Dad a Leek. IMHO,the Scallion/Chive/Leeks are the only assist openers worth having. Not only do they have a safety to keep them closed, but the protruding choil makes them safe to open. I have a SOG Flash I and an Onion Blackout, and don't trust either. Just wish the little buggers came in better steel(VG-10 Leek, oooerr).

J Smith :

I had a Chive but passed it along to someone
more infatuated with it than I. I like the
Avalanche & Whirlwind, but it looks to be
I'll be getting the PE Blue SpyderHawk instead.

I visited an old friend yesterday and he had a little kershaw. I think it was a chive it was small and had assisted opening, its a nice little knife I may have to pick one up to play with.
Are they considered switchblades? I wouldnt want to carry it if it was illegal.
Also after my friend pulled out the kershaw, I had to pull out my Endura... He was like **** now thats a knife!

I used to have a mini task as my EDC (at work). Now I carry a black scallion w/ black blade. I love to use the flicker to open it up. Remember...it's not an auto. It's auto assist. It's called "Speed Safe", which sounds a lot better than "Blade 'o Death".

When not at work, I carry my Blue Native and/or my Kiwi. However, these 2 knives have caused multiple bare patches on my hairy forearms. I just can't help showing off how sharp these knives come right outta the box.
