I just picked up a Tenacious, and it's a surprisingly nice knife for the price (even if that price has been creeping up as of late...). My question relates to centering: It has the least centered blade of any of my Spyderco's. It favors the non-lock side (say, at 40% if 50% is dead-center), which isn't surprising as it's a liner lock, and if I really squeeze the scales around the pivot, it will center.
So my question is: With time, with the lock bar and pivot break in enough that centering will just be a matter of tightening the pivot? Or should I expect more extensive tinkering?
(Or should I just not worry about it until the blade starts hitting the liners...)
Tenacious Centering Question
Re: Tenacious Centering Question
You can probably tinker with it and get it cantered a bit better but unless it’s actually causing an issue i wouldn’t worry.

Re: Tenacious Centering Question
The issue is only visual. It wasn't until YouTube reviewers popularized hating on every little detail that people even noticed and talked about it. Now it's like a deadly knife disease that must be cured. If there is no play in the blade when it's open, then I wouldn't worry about it. There shouldn't be a risk of it hitting the liner unless the pivot loosens up.

Thanks for the responses.

I don’t see it as a “YouTubers fault” thing but rather an enthusiast thing, if it’s just a tool then who cares But those who want perfection in their collection notice these things and have so many platforms to air gripes, regardless of how functionally irrelevant so easily is more at “fault” if you can really call it that.
