identify my mystery knife?
I bought a new Spyderco today. It was in an old display cabinet that a local gunshop had in storage, and the owner recently put out on display again.
There were 3 knives in it, 2 old Gin 2 Stainless Steel Rescue knives (rare?), and the knife I bought.
It has a metal handle, maybe titanium or aluminum (only 90$)? It is black, feels bead blasted.
The clip is silver, but no Spyder, it has only patent info on it. The clip can be set for tip-up or tip-down carry.
The handle side opposite from the clip has engraved or stamped "U.S.A. Made"
3 torx screws and Allen pivot.
The blade etchings are very interesting, ATS 34 at the top on one side, with Robert Terzuola Design in a circle around what looks like a dragon or reptile head. The other side has an engraved Spyder symbol with Spyderco at the top and Golden Colorado USA at the bottom. Very elaborate engraving, very pretty.
3 1/2 inch drop point plain edge blade.
The box is an old black and white box, but says C-16 Goddard, when this knife says Terzuola on it. I think it is the wrong box, and that the Goddard knife went home in a Terzuola box.
I have heard of the C-55 Starmate collaboration with Bob Terzuola, is this an earlier collaboration?
Thank you in advance on information about this knife. I can say that it looks pretty old (though brand new), it locks up perfectly (no bladeplay), perfectly centered, etc.
A really cool looking "old school" knife!

Hi Alan,
Welcome. Sounds to me like you got yourself an old Bob Terzoula Model C15P. This is a very rare knife in good condition (also my personal favorite). I've seen them kind of beat up at knife shows for $80-110. The list price in 1994 was $149.95. I have found the PE harder to find than the combo edge. There's a nice history of this model in the Spyderco book---turns out there are 4 generations of the model, if I remember right. First, no finger choil, second, no USA Made, third USA Made/ Aluminum, fourth G-10 handles.
Great discovery. They're hard to find with original boxes. I've seen new ones with box go for >$150. on ebay. Enjoy!
P.S. Sorry, I know nothing about Rescues, but if they're metal handles, buy 'em.

It's not a Rescue, then. What you have are early versions of the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Mariner, which can be worth a few bucks to the right buyer. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I got the Mariner. Missed the Rescue. **** lag didn't let me get my last bid in,in time.
