I was just wondering whether Spyderco had ever authorised any other company to use a Spyderco clip on their own model.
It's just that as I was browsing through the Blade Source 2001 catalogue I noticed a Timberline Special Service model sporting a Spyderco Clip ! The clip has the Spydie logo on it and the Patent info in clear view.
I thought maybe some of you guys could shed some light on this for me ?
Cheers

Stolen Clip ?
Hi StevieK. We couldn't patent the clip when we produced it. It was not considered patentable??
The Special service model was designed by Spyderco and a normal clip was used on the protos (which was the photo). The patent info on the clip was in reference to the hole opener, not the clip.
Spyderco's clip was introduced in 1981. To date, almost every knife company in the world has copied this concept.
