That is great fun. I love to fish as much as I love to upland small game hunt. Great stuff.

Nice fish!

I recognise the first one, Redfish, right?
I don't know the second one.

First one is a Redfish, second one is a Snook. Yup that grip is fantastic, money well spent.

Very nice haul. Are you frying 'em up or throwing them back? A fish fry with some Czech beer sounds real good right about now.

Snook are currently out of season and that one was too big to keep anyway; slot limit on snook is 28 - 33 inches. The redfish my wife has a recipe and she makes fish tacos out of them. She gets home made tortillas from our Mexican friends, add in fresh avacados, tomatoes, etc. and it is to die for. What brand of Czech beer are we talking about?

That sounds mighty good! I like the black (dark) Czech beers, Budweiser, Krušovice, Kozel, etc. but it is pretty hard to find a bad one. Check the "What are you drinking" thread on the off topic section for some pics.

Has anyone here ever gone mullet fishing? What were your experiences and how does it taste, the mullet?

Used to eat mullet pretty often down at topsail island. It's a decent eating fish and isn't too strong tasting which is important to me. Not as good to me as Flounder but easier and cheaper. They were pretty easy to catch off the pier. At the right time when they were hungry I caught a couple with unbaited hooks. :)

To be honest, where I fished as a kid we considered mullet bait fish. I never got over the idea to this day, we just used them for bait in the unlikely event we caught any on a line. We used to buy boxes of frozen mullet or squid on the way to the beach when we were surf fishing.

Best way to catch mullet is with a cast net. And they are delicious when they are cooked in a smoker.
