Ti/Elmax Urban?

#1

Post by d.2.the.p »

I, like many others, have been quite happy to see runs of some of our favorite Slipits in higher-end materials. The Squeak and the Pingo are already awesome knives, but to see them decked out in Ti & Elmax put a smile on my face. Now we have the K390 run of the Urban at an extremely affordable price for such an apparently awesome steel (I have not used it myself).

For me, the Urban is the greatest of Spyderco's Slipits. It's small enough not to raise any eyebrows, but still large enough for most EDC tasks I'm going to run into as a city dweller. And while I appreciate the latest Sprint for the steel provided, I'm personally just not a fan of FRN. Although I think FRN functions perfectly well (I've never once thought it was flimsy or could lead to any kind of failure), I personally tend to gravitate towards higher-end handle materials that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional.

That being said, I'd love to see the Urban get the Ti/Elmax treatment but perhaps with a blasted or stonewashed Ti handle similar to the Ti UKPK or Techno respectively.

Anyone else?

I'd be in but like SG88 said, sales were bad on the squeak and Pingo. Maybe with the apparent success of the k390 Urban it could be a possibility but I doubt it.

But put me on the record as saying I'd buy a titanium Urban in a heartbeat.
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390

That would be such a cool knife. Pretty much the perfect gentleman's folder.

I think the sales says it all. The ti pushes the price sky - high. That's not to say my ti Squeak isn't a firm favourite.

I'll admit that though I say I'd buy a Ti Urban on release, I was one of the bums who waited for sale pricing to get the Pingo and Squeek...

I really do like the Urban best though and I don't think I'd be able to resist, especially now that I have both of the others and know just how awesome the Ti/Elmax combo is.
