"EnduraHawk"?

#1

Post by AllenETreat »

To : ALL -

I don't know how many "takers" there were

for the so-called "Spyderhawk" but I'm

one disappointed customer! O.K. gang,

around August of 2002 a thread pops up

on the Spyderco forum on Bladeforums.com

and,I believe here as well with a call

from a "forumite" whose "handle" eludes

me at the moment, with a call for a

"Monster Merlin", or something along

those lines. And suddenly announces

the "Spyderhawk" with the attendent

publicity on BOTH forums. Well, I

finally received mine, and noticed in

that little circle in the FRN handle

with the icon & CLIPIT the word

"Endura"! Was there that much of a ru$h

to production that cannabalized

existing stockpiles of Endura handles?!

I likee the "EnduraHawk" but, at the

$55 from glasshartt this baby set me

back, the least could've done was

given it it's own handle with

"Spyderhawk" on it. So, I'm left with

this "bastard" offspring! I'm surprised

it wasn't in "ATS-55" instead of the

much touted "VG-10"; but THAT may have

caused a wimper or two. "Flame" away,

"forumites"!

No flames. Sal said it was an accident that the mold wasn't changed. That has been corrected. There is a post here somewhere about the mistake. So... just think of yours as a collectors dream - just like the misprinted stamps or mis-struck coins.

Sounds like they put the wrong fenders on that baby!! Kind of like puttin' a ford engine into a chevy. Even if they do change the mold and remove the endura name it still is just an endura handle. The way of cutting corners...

Al, I hate to say this guy, but I have read several threads about the "Endura" handled Spyderhawk. I know we don't all read every thread, but given tha you ordred a Spyderhawk, I have thought you would have read most of the threads, at least enough to have caught the buzz about the Endura handle.

Chuck -

Read MOST of the threads with regards

to it having an "Endura handle", but

NOT "Endura" stamped on it! Meebe I

should spend more ( should satisfy Sal

& Co.!) and get the "forum" model (

only I understand it's gonna be PE &

I likee SE! S.O.S.( too bad!))

Sorry you feel screwed dude. I believe this was well documented, here and at BF. Alot of people mentioned getting one from the first run for collection potential. Maybe someone will trade you for it?

Don't sweat it, Allen. I just checked my brother's SpyderHawk and it too bears the Endura stamp. I don't think he even realizes it yet, and so I might be able to buy it off of him for a decent price. If I were you, I'd save your EnduraHawk as a collector's item and buy another one that has SpyderHawk on the handle.

Stay cool, and don't let it bug ya' too much.

Footnote -

Had a "run-in" with a "gangbanger"type

in the $h*ty of Ft. Laudy ; Seems I

somehow "slighted" this punk, so he

starts to follow me makin' piece meal,

ghetto mouth threats, "..and you won't

use that blade on me white boy!" my

rejoiner was to snap open the monster

and say to him & his amigos "try me,

@$$hole!!" Let me tell you, I don't

think the miscreant or his "homies" had

ANY idea HOW BIG the blade was and that

it had "teeth" to boot! I await a

peremptory visit by either the BSO -or-

Ft. Laudy's finest. Do I give a rats

@$$!?! These pathetic cowards which

litter the streets of Ft.Laudy/Miami

are so goddamn cowardly, I wouldn't put

it past them to go cryin' to the

"heat"! And if the "heat" no likee my

gesture towards these juvenille

delinquents, they can go straight ****

with the lot of'em! ( Meebee I shoulda

raised my "state" of Florida "OT"

(again!) but I'd SURELY be FLAMED for

that!) Mean streets,gang!

Were the gangbangers dismayed by the fact that it said "Endura" on the handle?

Most thugs don't expect you to be carrying heat or a menacing blade. Had the same thing happen to me and I was only carrying a Buck 503 but it worked.

Server problem? After the post got this message telling me that the page had expired and to go back to Spyderco.com etc. Each time I clicked OK, it posted another response. Must be the weather-14 degrees here.

The most pitiful thing about these little punks is if you have a disagreement with one, then you sometimes have to deal with ALL of the little bastids. But with the EnduraHawk, what else would you need? Go for the alpha male....and the rest will not want any trouble after that!!

From the way it sounds, though, none of them wanted to come out and play....
