The Improved Karahawk?

#1

Post by Boar-gen »

Hi there,

In the April Spyderco byte it was stated that the new improved Karahawk is shipping in April. But I have not seen it anywhere!
Anyone knows what happened and when it will be available?

Thanks,

I believe they added a g10 spacer to the "loop" to make gripping it more comfortable. I could be wrong, but I think that was the main difference from the "old" karahawk.

Keep in mind that dealer's don't always update photos when new/improved versions of a knife come out. Of course, they could still have old stock on the shelf, so it's best to call and confirm, but am sure many dealers do have the improved Karahawk.

Yes and some dealers even list the old model number while stocking the new one. It was a little confusing when I looked recently.

I might have bought one already if spyderco and other companies had updated their pages with some pictures when it came out. If anyone has a picture of the new version would you mind posting a few pics? I've still never seen one, and don't feel like buying one to see what it looks like.

This appears to be it. Hard to find much out there. 2 extra screws on the ring with some G10 inserted (and chamfering according to desc)...

Well shucks. This thread just cost me a couple hundred bucks (Canadian). I finally got around to picking up the new and improved Karahawk. First off, this knife is gorgeous. The fit and finish is great. The G10 ring is a nice addition, the action is smooth and well, it's nice to have a hawkbill back in the collection. On to the pics.

Glad you like the shots Sal. One day I would love to hear a bit more about your design process. How do you come up with such varied designs?

So the G10 of the ring completely replaced the backspacer? Very nice looking CQI.

This thread is about to cost me money too.

This is what I'm talking about, spyderco needs to step up their website photo game, more pics, more angles, things that give an idea of scale relative to the hand ect. . I looked everywhere for pictures of this when I heard about it, I couldn't find any via google or a forum search so I gave up. That's a beautiful looking knife, I wish I had known sooner. Thanks for posting the pics LC, I see you're set up for reverse grip draw, I like your style.

Thank you sir. The knife actually ships with the clip oriented this way. I can't remember if it came like this on the original or if I had to switch it to reverse edge out.
