Looking for a truly fantastic office chair?

#1

Post by infotree »

I know this forum is supposed to be about knifes, but this particular topic probably affects us all.

Having a comfortable office chair.

www.hermanmiller.com - The Aeron Office Chair

Spyderco & Sal and anyone else, you need to check out this wonderful chair (if you don't know already about it).

I've know about the Aeron chair for a no. of years, running across it in a search once on a new chair design.

As christmas gift this year, I got a Aeron chair (B model size) from my wife (I made us oak fireplace mantels and surrounds for our two fireplaces this year).

Well I can't say enough about this topic, since I am kind of a expert on poor chairs since going through 3 office chairs from Staples/Office depot in the last eight years.

Even with running & lifting weights every second day (I'd probably be one big fat lump of lard if I didn't), one needs a good chair if you have an occupation which has you sitting most of the day.

With my size and weight, at 6'0" and 215 lbs. I have always felt awful uncomfortable after sitting at my desk searching and reading patents for eight hours.

I get overheated on the chair portions my body contacts, poor adjustments, insufficient lean-back on chair, too short a seat for my leg length, incorrect arm height and configuration, no arm angle adjustments for keyboarding vs mouse work, no forward tilt-lock for certain tasks, the various lumbar support design on different chairs haven't worked in the long term for me.

Even getting up to move around every half hour or so, hasn't helped. Thank God, I exercise!

All of the issues in design and comfort are addressed in this chair.

The designers Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick have continued to improve this chair since it's origins in 1992. It's won a no. of design awards since its introduction into the market.

In my opinion, after throughly researching this topic area (after all I am a patent seacher), this chair is the present pinnacle of excellence in office chair design and manufacturing.

Enough said. However, this is only my view.

Until you sit in one, you won't know what I mean about comfort.

Best to all of you, Todd

I've just used a chair I bought at an estate sale for $5. I'm not picky. However, comfort is a good thing.

Never underestimate the impossible.

I am always looking for a good chair. What kind of price range should I expect for office chairs? Our chairs are used 24/7 at work, so we are dependent on good chairs.

Gee, I stumbled onto this site about Spyderco knives while looking for a good used office chair. - and maybe a pair of boots. Talk about off topic! Hello? Doesn't this site have any moderators?

we are nearly a mod-free forum. Carlos and spydiecrew are around here to keep us in line and chat, but we don't really need mods here.

Still a lot of ducats in any exchange!!!Comfort may not have a price but I still get slammed for being associated with the military and $400 hammers. Imagine if I had been the GSA source that recommended these!! Hmmmmm.... guess if I'd called em bureaucratic all-terrain response vehicles it would've worked.

Great sales info on the site but I'm sticking with my Bio-Fit ERA51-ARU at 1/3 the price - Canadian or American dollars! If I had ma druthers and enough money to be senseless and decadent, I'd opt for the $3,000 full body massage chair I tried at a Sharper Image store in San Francisco. That would lead to serious "chair" envy at the shop!!!
