the squarehead

#1

Post by i am travvy »

alright guys so i received my squarehead in he mail for this years calendar contest. awesome little knife. i want to wear this as a neck knife similar to the dog tag but the big slot makes that hard because it makes it hang at a diagonal which isnt very comfy. so my first attempt i took some of my 80 lb braided fishing line wrapped it around the slot and tied in a little split ring in the middle. this worked but i didnt really like how it looked.

so today while sitting around i noticed a few pieces of scrap leather sitting on the table (one of my moms hobbies and i like to mess around with it as well). and then an idea came to me, a neck sheath! so i grabbed some tools, the leather and this is what i ended up with.

now i just need to figure out a way to attatch a loop to it so i can hang it from a necklace or some paracord.

That is awesome! Might I suggest a grommet on that hole so it won't tear?

Looks great, I love the way the large spyder logo looks on there!

As for the hole/loop, I would also suggest a small grommet. They seem to work well with leather, and would definitely be strong enough to hold a split ring.

Heres an example of how I used a grommet with a leather lanyard.

Thanks everyone! Yeah ill probably end up putting a grommet in there if I can find one. I know I have a bunch of snaps and little decorative things but not sure about grommets.

Just took a look and no grommets. I'll hold off wearing it until I can get some.

Great work, I like that. :spyder:

Been wanting to get myself a Squarehead... was thinking of putting some sort of Cordura webbing into that slot, with a small buckle attached.
Going back to Caly.

Man I havnt been out in a while. Just started my new job so I'll be able to afford some fishing trips now. I'm just hoping I'll be able to catch part of the fall mullet run when I do make it out. Tunas and swords, sounds like a blast.

That sounds like a blast. I want to go out on a deep sea charter but they like to pack as many people as they possibly can on the boat. I'll see them going out and people are like shoulder to shoulder. I actually just got invited to go snook fishing tomorrow. Can't wait for that, just hope the weather holds out.
