In looking to make the Techno a little better, I ask some members (in another post) about how their Techno performed with a blade regrind. I decided (for now) not to regrind the blade thinner.
Instead I settled for making it lighter, so here goes. Machining out pockets on the inside, then reblasting the slabs. It is a tiny bit lighter, balance is good. You must look hard to see the pockets when put back together. No weakening here the slabs are .120" thick and I took out .050" deep.

:) Well you will have to take my word for it, because I don't have a scale.
Thanks, it's a great tool(mill), have had it for years.

Great work!
Wish it came that way from the factory. Not that the weight is an issue really, but I have a dislike for weight that doesn't add to functionality.
My orange one is a bit lighter than stock:

That's pretty sweet, gull. Have you seen how Spyderco lightens things? It's similar to what you did, but different, too.

Also super jealous of the mill. Now I have to have one. That looks so clean and well done.
If my very rough estimations of the dimensions of those slots are close, I get around 8g removed. I just left a physics final so I'm still very much in calculator mode and I couldn't help myself. :)

Just getting back.
It's a Micro Mill, pretty much old school(simple). I made the milling plate and the hold down dogs, etc.
Pictures later.

Excellent! I will be waiting here patiently to see the pics.
I'm actually looking at getting a Micro-Mill. Any insight/info would be most welcome. (Sorry to derail the thread, Gull. :o )

Very slick mod. I like the way the surface looks right after milling.
