Dropped the cash on a Salt 1.

#1

Post by Knivesinedc »

So, I've been browsing the salties for the past couple of months because I have started doing a lot of water related activities and I need a knife I can depend on and not worry about cleaning right away if it gets wet. So I decided to get a Salt 1 SE. I chose to get SE because of all the tough and fiberous materials I cut through regularly and because I can't get enough of Spydercos serrations :D it should be here soon and I'll give an update when it comes. I'm pretty excited  Anyone else have some input/advice/stories/info on salt knives? This will be my first salt knife, but not my first experience with H1. My friend from Finland who lives near the Finnish archipelago bought herself a salt 1 a while back and I sharpened it for her. I like the steel. Its tough, rugged and obviously corrosion proof. It does scratch pretty easily, but its not that big a deal to me. My knives are users so the way they look isn't too important to me. I also got the yellow handle just because I like that it would be visible if I dropped it while fishing or hiking or backpacking and I have never owned a yellow handled knife. Its festive! ;)

I have the Salt 1 and the Tasman Salt. I carry them on my wade belt for re-tying lures , emergency line cutting , cutting bait etc. since I am fishing saltwater they are a must. Also EDC the Salt 1 occasionally. Very versatile blade. congratulations.
