This is a cpl pics of a job i just did for a customer who wanted to turn his Camillus EDC into a hole opener.

It's oval BTW (i measured with feeler gauges) it also had the benefit of making it ambidextrous.

OPINIONS? Ron

Good job, Ron!

Curious about price also and whether you did some slight chamfering or polishing/grinding on the edges of the hole.

Chuck i tried emailing you to see if you might help repost at a higher resloution, the addy i had for you wouldn't work.
Just me I think it was D2 as it took a tungsten carbide cutter to work it.
Java thanks yes i did a slight 10 degree bevel using a diamond cutter on my mill and relieved both sides.
The charge BTW was 25.00 shipping included.
If anyone wants this done i'll be happy to help. Ron

Thanks guys for the nice comments.
I realy enjoy working on knives it's always been a hobby now it pays.
The holes aren't drilled they are way to hard after the blades are fininshed for that.
I do them on my milling machine using several tungsten carbide cutters.
Once a blade reaches the hardness of VG-10 the only thing that will do that kind of work is Tungsten or diamond cutters.
Also even if it was possible to drill them it would infrindge on <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> patents which iv'e no intention of doing <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> about any other shape I can provide. Ron

Great job Ron. The knife looks much better with the hole. It's a good thing that the handles have that shape that allows the thumb to reach the hole.
BTW, what is the diam. of the hole?

Alex it's close to 1/2 width xs 7/16 in height rasiused about 10 degrees all the way around.
Some brands i can also relieve enough of the handle to allow for a hole, thanks for the nice comments guys. Ron

Is the EDC coated? It appears black in the pic.

Is is possible to do a slot (like Mayo/Strider SNG)?

...so tempting <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Cool it sure is, if it has a thumb stud hole most can be safely milled if you take your time, and yep it was coated. Ron
