Blown away by Vallotton!

#1

Post by burf151 »

I just opened a box containing a new Vallotton subhilt and I am blown away! I haven't been this excited about a knife since I got my SERE 2000 back in '05. The Vallotton replaces the SERE which has been lost for 3 months. I don't think it is coming back. :( I already like this Spyderco better. It is everything I liked about the SERE plus some. It even reminds me of the knife that I alwas wanted but couldn't find a Microtech CMTX5. I have had lots of other Spydercos in the past, but this is the only one currently. I am more excited about this one than when I got the Sebenza that I used to have. Beautiful work Spyderco!

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the Vallotton.

I myself had hundreds of Spyderco's yet no Vallotton, but I finally picked one up from Howe's during their sale a couple of months ago. It is a high-quality knife isn't it!

The fit and finish is downright amazing, the look is classic, and it is sure beefy!

Welcome to the forum, burf151!

Congrats on the new Vallotton. That is indeed a very fine model. I've been tempted to get one for some time but never seem to get around to it.

If you like this model, you should check out the automatic version of the Vallotton too (modified Spyderco version made by Butch Vallotton and his crew). They're a little pricier, but are incredibly fun to play with. (*Just make sure it is legal to own/carry an auto in your area if you plan to go this route*). :)

Thank you Sal, all of the Spyderco knives (13 or 14) and sharpening stones that I have purchased have exceeded my expectations. Quality products, and a welcome from the man himself. What a great place!

The Vallotton was my first Spyderco. Its one I'll never part with if at all possible. Its an incredibly strong knife. You'd be hard pressed to break the tip of a Vallotton. The Coffin shaped handles, the Polished G10 - the Italian Stiletto look it has; no wonder it won the Imported Knife of the Year Award. Its just one helluva knife :)
Congratz and enjoy!

If I hadn't already bought it, those pics would have pushed me over the edge.

You guys are a bunch of enablers. My first Vallotton gets little carry time even though It is a thing of beauty. Fit and finish is superb, built like a tank. Imo one of the nicest spydies ever made....functional art. Got me thinking of seconds. I guess a person can be Spyderco rich, and Spyderco poor at the same time. :o

I like the polished G10 but my favorite part is the double grind at the tip.
