I don't post here as much as I used to, but I figure I should come back to show off my pristine C01 Worker with stainless scales. The box dates to '97, and it is serrated (my preference).
For YEARS, i've looked for a New SS Worker, and for years, the prices were just plain ridiculous (ie: 250 dollars for a worker!!). Finally, I found a brand new SS Worker for a very reasonable price (about a buck and a quarter out the door). I can now say I own an original Spyderco with the history of being THE FIRST model. It carries well, and the fit and finish is immaculate. This one will be one of the last I'd be willing to part with, and hopefully I'll be able to hand it down as an heirloom.
Very impressed.
Finally obtained a SS C01 Worker.

What a great score! It looks like your patience has paid off. My concern with waiting for decent prices on discontinued knives is that the price will just continue to rise or that you will never find it again. I guess they level out eventually but its hard not to scoop up a BNIB when you find it, no matter the price.
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390

If you REALLY want something that's no longer in production, then dropping the cash for it might be worth it. However, I didn't want a Worker enough to justify the 250-300 price tag I saw over the years. Same with collecting guns-- Just recently found a pristine S&W .38 hand ejector that dates back to 1928, and I knew it'd be a while before I'd see one in THAT good condition, so I jumped on that one.Liquid Cobra wrote:What a great score! The worker, I was willing to be patient on, and wait for one that went ~100 bucks or so.

The new worker sprint was not far from $250!!
Re: Finally obtained a SS C01 Worker.
I know, I've looked at that model and the price just turned me away. We're talking G10 scales on a lock back, not hand fitted titanium frame locks.twinboysdad wrote:The new worker sprint was not far from $250!!
Further, I like historical items, and only the SS Worker would fit that bill. More and more I find myself acquiring vintage spydercos with SS scales, even over the new stuff.

Nice score! I managed to find a ridiculous deal on a very early NIB Worker a few years ago at a gun show. It's a nice knife, and cool piece of Spyderco history.
The Worker sprint can still easily be had for $179, and many even sold for under $150.

Great find! Just to compound the difficulty I'm looking for a left handed Worker. I'm not holding my breath.
