I think that this will be popular. Another big little knife option from the industry leader. Im gonna check it out first in person before I make the jump though.

I want to see one, but something tells me this will appeal to me far more than the Techno.

I like the chubby, but I don't think I'll ever buy one for myself if the price isn't insanely low...
The concept is nice and it fills a big part of the marker.
LBK and has a custom knife look to it, but I'll stick with my Techno :)
Maybe it's one of those knives I'll learn to love...
Happened with quite a few, like the Dodo.

A wolf has teeth.
An eagle has talons.
We, have Spyderco.

This thread needs pictures
Mr Blonde wrote:The Chubby prototype, designed by Michael Burch, was one of my personal favorites from this year’s meet. Apparently, Michael Burch has been making this design for some time and it’s been refined over the years. The dual beveled blade allows for very easy penetration.

This knife reminded me a bit of the Spyderco Poliwog, which I’ve carried for a few years as an EDC. The Chubby is much more beefy and fills the hand even better. The titanium handle and integral lock make for a relatively lightweight folder. I think the all steel Poliwog was heavier. The knife handled very well. I think the circular inserts are carbon fiber. I’m usually not a fan of custom makers’ clip designs, versus Spyderco designed clips, but this clip turned out well. It wasn’t too sharp and didn’t pinch the hand in my grips. After I was done taking these photos, I made a mental note to put the Chubby on my wishlist.

The approximate specifications of the Chubby prototype are:
Overall Length: 15,1 cm / 5.94 inches
Edge Length: 5,7cm / 2.24 inches
Blade Length: 5,7 cm / 2.24 inches
Blade Thickness: 0,4 cm / 0.16 inches

LBKs Rules!

Hi Folks!

The Chubby will be a Home Run for sure, no matter what. Everything about it's design claims coolness efficiency.

I'll get one for sure, but I don't think it'll ever kick my Techno out of my pocket. I find the Techno's blade shape way more efective for my needs for a virtually identical overall format.

And there's a clear advantage of the Chubby over the Techno: is way more Leftie Friendly. That's a fact. So lefty folks really should be glad about this one.

I would really like to see this one in person. Grinds look great, not sure where it would end up in the edc rotation though.

I still can't get over the name of this knife. That must have been quite the meeting down in Golden when this name was picked.

Seems to me like it puts style ahead of function. Super wide blade with swedge...would be ok but I don't even like the way it looks.

The custom maker they collaborated with on this knife, Michael Burch (Burchtree Bladeworks) named it "Chubby" years ago, so Golden didn't really pick the name.

Oh great. Now when the knife arrives everybody is going to be providing their opinions on how well Michael Burch's Chubby feels in hand. I'm sure Michael is probably busting his gut inside over the name but otherwise pretending it has no significance to any innuendo that might be claimed.

This one has zero appeal to me (which is pretty unusual for a Spydie). I don't like the blade shape or clip at all. Of course that might change, but for now, the Techno is the small ti knife for me.

Do you have a Dice? ......and if so then what makes you like the Techno over the Dice?

I think the Techno is nicer than this one IMO but don't have a Techno and never held one before but from what I have seen it does appeal more to me.
