On Motengs site they list the blade steel as: Blade Material: Aogami Super Blue http://www.moteng.com/C90FPGYE-Stretch- ... Blue-Plain
Motengs a distributor, not a dealer..
GPK's http://www.gpknives.com/spydercostretch ... ntrun.html says Aogami Super Blue Steel (Stainless) blade and also says the blade hardness is:
Blade Rockwell: 62-63HRC
Is Super Blue normally ran at those hardness levels?
BHQ lists it as: Blade Material: Aogami Super Blue
Pic from BHQ's site:
Personally, I'm expecting the laminated blade but if it turns out its a full SB blade then thats even better..

IIRC that's typical for Super Blue.
It won't be solid SB. We have heard time and time again the maker of these is laminating. I don't know why if the last thee are done one way they would change methods for the Stretch.
Besides people wanting to let these tarnish up to look cool there is nothing but a bucket cons if they went with solid stock. It would be more expensive for the maker to grind, more brittle for the end user, more difficult to reprofile, and corrosion resistance is awful around places like screws and liners.
I like the stuff. It's great at what it was designed to do. The fact that a company even has done sprints of a folding knife with it is borderline insanity. The lamination of the ZDP-189 Caly3/3.5 is far more difficult to argue than something that rusts like the floor panels of a vintage Porsche.

No, the super blue sprints are a little lighter gray and there's a very slight hint of blue to the gray.swigert wrote:is the superblue knive frn the same exact frn as a normal grey frn? Like an Endura?
I "think" I took pictures to document it, but I'm not sure where I would start looking for them.
*edit* Found them. Super Blue on the right.

Placed one in my cart at GPK and had it go to quantity zero before I was done checking out. Oh well. Have found a couple of sites that have them for sale (no mention of being in stock or not) and did place an order but I'm guessing that they are either not updating their inventory or have not received them yet. So it still may be a no-go. And they were a bit more expensive than the average. Mike
