Sal, a question re: the Superblue FRN sprints
Sal,
As always thanks for your time and accessibility. I am curious if the FRN sprints have sold well enough in your estimation to go ahead and plan something similar? Would another round of sprints in FRN be something you would thumbs up? I only bought my E4 SB for the SB...and in the process fell in love with the Endura all over again. I will be getting the Manbug as well before the SB sprints are done. If you are open to running the full FRN line again, is there a steel you might foresee? I know Seki is quirky about steels. Would love something as awesome as SB but obviously different.

Isn't the endura just a ridiculously awesome knife?! I buy all kind of spydercos that are fancier and cost way more money but the endura (and pacific salt) are just so hard to beat. I'm not sure you can beat em for the money. So yeah, I'm all over some more sprints. I would love to see something in a good carbon tool steel like m4. Can you imagine?? Also, I would love to buy the delica and endura with a full superblue blade like the caly knives came with. I love the looks of a nice patina!twinboysdad wrote:Sal,

Seems to me that s35vn would be an upgrade to vg10 without being extremely expensive, does that sound accurate? And bd30p would be in about this same range price and performance wise(?).sal wrote:I'm open to suggestions on steel.

Carpenter XHP would get my attention.
The Seki folks would be familiar with Sandvik and Uddeholm steels from the kitchen cutlery markets, and those would all be novel.
I hope any new run on the FRN knives would be ffg.
The bottom line is that I would be very inclined to pick up any new Dragonfly/Delica/Endura.
Working :spyder:'s: Dragonfly, Dragonfly 2 ZDP, Pacific Salt (reground flat by Brad S.), Green Delica FFG, Orange Endura FFG, Saver Salt, Spin Etched, Tasman Salt, Blue FRCP Manix 2

I'm interested in anything FRN. Seems like the PERFECT series of knives to test steels. Much more affordable than g10 and fancy locks, while being more than strong enough for extended heavy cutting, so I'm really hoping Sal keeps this going. Any new or harder to find steel would be totally awesome, and new colors are always nice.

M4 in FRN would be a must buy for me. Since its only used in taiwan and golden models thus far, I would buy a UKPK M4 knife in a heartbeat.Hopsbreath wrote:Glad to hear more FRN/super steels are a possibility! I'd also like to see M4 offered in a sprint run. For that matter, any high carbon steels (3V or 4V maybe) in a folder would be really cool since not many modern knife makers are doing anything similar.

Well just from looking into this, and no personal experience, but here are a couple links to each -
Cowry-X - http://www.zknives.com/knives/steels/cowry-x.shtml
Shirogami 1 - http://www.japanesechefsknife.com/Infor ... teels.html
See what you guys make of these. I'm sure we could find interest or usefulness for a few more japanese FRN knives!
