Anyone Interested in a Sprint "S"
Anyone Interested in a Sprint "S"
I would love to see a solid blade & handle "S" sprint run. Aluminum or any color g10 would work for me, with and blade steel with s30v or better edge retention.
My ideal combo would be tan g10 with an M4 blade :D
But I guess orange g10 with either m390 or 204p would be acceptable :p

*Throws rocks. Imo the whole point of the S was all the holes. It was one of my grail knives, and I've loved it ever since I got it - precisely because of the holes. Otherwise, the salsa, maybe even the dragonfly come close to it as a knife. Keep the holes! I was so disappointed when they took the holes out of the R. Whole different knife Imo
Carry a sharp knife, and life will never be dull
perhaps we compensate by saying holes in the handle but not the blade? holes in the blade make it way harder to clean and it significantly decreases the life of the bladeMinibear453 wrote:*Throws rocks. I always thought that the point of the S was more ceremonial. In other words, it looks pretty, but isn't a knife you would really use hard. I love the look of the holed blade, because it's so pretty and delicate looking. It's not a knife I would ever use in my job, but I would show it off to my friends. Just my two cents.

Yesterday I looked back at things sal said with "solid blade" in them. You're possibly right.Holland wrote:R u sure it was this and not the salsa?
There could have been confusion between the "solid blade" R sprint that they were working on at the time and has already been released and him mentioning there could be a Salsa in the works.
Maybe it has only been in my head for the past 5 or 6 years!

I'm in but only with a solid blade and scales. I have both versions of the original - if you use it you spend a while cleaning all the gunk out with dental floss ....
Also with a skeletonized blade, the MIM casting would limit the steel options as indicated already.
With a Dragonfly, Walker and a Chaparral for size comparison

I'd very much be interested in a sprint though since my interests lie in oddities, I much prefer the cut out blades. Just for information on the R knife: there were three different runs, the original with holes in both the blade and the scales/liners, the second run of the R2 with holes only in the scales/liners, and the newest sprint run NISHIJIN R that only mimics the R in size and design. The character that the holes in the blade add to its panache in my book and the other two runs of R pale by comparison. I hope you remembered correctly and a Sprint S finds its way to market.

I love mine - it makes a great office knife - lightweight, thin, compression lock...
It certainly is a friendly-looking little thing and you don't have to worry about pulling it out in mixed company. Heaven help you if you cut up some gummy tape or get anything nasty on the blade, however. That beasty can be a bear to get clean. I end up soaking the blade in Goof-Off or some other solvent for a few minutes and then scrubbing it hard. Best to keep it for envelope and light package-opening duty.
