do you ever feel like there are to many knives to buy??
Sometimes I just wanna buy them all at once and it becomes overwhelming. Every time I walk into a knife shop somewhere there is a burning desire for every beautiful piece of metal. It makes you feel bad cause you can't afford to buy every single knife you fall in love with. Then you start thinking which knife to buy next and you keep thinking of more and more knives until your list is so big you can't decide and you get a headache. Thats pretty much every day for me. How bout you guys??

I (as do us all) share your pain. I constantly struggle with the urge to buy a new model that I want, then I find a classic that I can't pass up. This is a weekly/monthly conflict for me. To be fair, I avoid the gun shop for the same reason.

Yeah. I've come to the realization that I have more knives than I can use, with more must-haves on my radar like the Southard and Cruwear Millie, so I'm reducing my collection. It pains me to do it but I cant really enjoy my knives if they don't get pocket time.
Plus I just figured out how much money I've spent on Spydies in the last 9 months. That's alot of dough just sitting on my shelf. :o
I'll probably do catch and release from now on. :)

I can't even think about the new knives. I'm still trying to get all the old Spyderco knives that I've missed out on.
My :spyder:'s : Sage 1, Native 4, Cricket, Dragonfly 2, Tenacious, Persistence Blue, Jason Breeden Rescue, Cat, Delica 4 Grey FFG, Renegade, CF Dodo, Orange Endura 4 FFG, Lum Chinese Folder
I am mostly sticking to customs now. I missed out on the PM2 madness. To be honest, I have rarely met a knife I didn't like. When I started collecting I tried to buy everything and ended up with a random assortment. the next Spyderco I hope to get is the cruwear Military. I don't have any of the recent Spydercos but I would like to get the Techno as well.

Absolutely. But I think the key thing to remember is that it's nearly impossible for the majority of people to buy each and every Spydie that hits the market. I recently went through this thinking the level would be much higher in some instances it is .zidfeldts wrote:I am mostly sticking to customs now. I missed out on the PM2 madness. Obviously there are good and bad makers , and in between .
But unless you go above say $ 600 IMO the quality Spyderco offer can't be matched , could you get a Vallotton made for the same cost nope .
But that's OT yeah there's too many as in I can't afford them all but not too many as in you could buy all of them or the chase would end .
Its not just the owning of the knife either as mainly a collector , its like the holiday issue the build up expectation of going on holiday is just as big a part as going .
Obviously you go and enjoy but there's nothing like having a knife in the mail you haven't had a hands on before anticipating its arrival .
Then enjoying using it or putting it with your collection , I can honestly say if I could I'd but every spyderco available as I'm a collector.
But then I'd be waiting for new releases and I suppose its like those who have everything in a financial sense its become taken for granted and would lose some of its appeal/excitement .
Given up all my Vices apart from smoking which I need to give up , knife collecting is one collecting area/hobby that the average guy can enjoy .
You get a wide choice there's something to suit most budgets and its a useful thing to have too .
Art in some instances can be nice but I collect moorcroft when you have it out on the side under a nice lamp , the light reflects off the porcelain it looks stunning .
But I can't be side either me , the kids the cats or someone may knock it breaking a 80 year old $1000 vase .
I'd rather sell them but its part of stuff I inherited so I can't the ones I've brought are cheaper but still have to be locked away in a glass cabinet where they lose some of their magic.
Sorry ramble way OT too  .
EVERY DAY!
It is a constant struggle. I have a 'wish list' of knives, and I have it all stored all online and in a nice orderly fashion, you can check it out, just search "spyderco catalog" and boom you've got it.

So many spydies, not enough pockets.

I've been there. But I'm really not right now.
I have my favorite, CF Balance, that does 99.9% of what I need an EDC to do.
5-6 in the next tier (or for something task specific where the Balance isn't quite right and 75ish others that just sit, including some truely amazing knives.
I look at new knives and realize that, for whatever reason, they won't make it into that 5-6 knife second tier, let alone displace my Balance. I don't view myself as a collector. I do have a compulsive acquisition disorder
but it feels like it may be a while before anything comes along that really screams "Buy me now!"
But I do feel your pain.

The Forum Native is an outstanding knife, Roman. I'm glad I have mine and it's the most carried after my Balance.bh49 wrote:+1 except of Forum Native, instead of Balance :)
I know, right? There are a few right now I really like. The black Szabo, the Pingo... a few others, but I would just buy them to own them and I don't want to do that.bh49 wrote:+1 Just yesterday bought a beautiful knife and I do feel your pain.
In other AD areas... I ordered a new pen the other day, and I don't even write anything these days
So, what knife did you get? Do I need one?

Like others have already stated, I think I'm past that stage now. There are certainly knives I'd love to get my hands on, but I'm pretty happy with my very small collection these days. The truth is, I have a handful of folders/SAKs that either have sentimental value or have little monetary value that don't see any pocket time and one folder I've carried every day since August, 2012. I've been trying to look at my folder in the same way I look at other gear I own, being that I won't likely replace it unless it meets a task it can't handle. That's not to say I might not buy another folder 20 minutes from now if the feeling strikes, but it's pretty unlikely.

It is Vallotton. I kind of wanted for a while. I saw crazy deal and decided to grab it. Beautiful, but most likely will never carry. I little heavy and grind a little too thick.
I do not know, if you need it, unless you want it. :D

I agree. Just Monday I got into another expensive world, usually topped by Aimpoints or Eotechs.Evil D wrote:Not necessarily too many knives but I always feel like there's too many hobbies to fund lol.
