orange Millie

#1

Post by twinboysdad »

what are my chances of finding one NIB? Nothing on the bay, and these never turn up on the few forums I frequent. How long ago was this sprint and how many pieces? I just cringe watching that video of that Russkie abusing the orange Millie and eventually breaking the tip off! I catch myself going "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".

I too hate watching that video because it pains me so. they do show up in the BF Exchange sometimes, but usually at $300 plus pricing IIRC.

There was a bit of a fiasco with that one. I believe it was a sprint, but then it changed and they made another run and all the people selling for a profit got mad that they weren't "so" limited. The status changed to "limited production". They were available from dealers for quite a while.

I placed an order for an Orange Military on 11/05/2010, and I believe they were drying up from the dealers at that time.

I fished the only one I've seen online this calendar year out of the 'bay in May, BNIB for a little over $200. The second I saw the listing I snatched it. I agree with you that they are a rare beast indeed to spot in the wild (go figure since they are bright orange! ;) ). Endgame was made a similar comment recently in another thread about how the orange PM2 seems to be equally tricky to find, something about that color I guess...

Perhaps custom scales are an option?

People like their orange knives for some reason.

I am certain that PM2's with scales made from peel ply cowpatties would sell out in a day...I am unaware of a knife so fast off the shelves. I don't care for them but they are a great deal of awesome in an affordable package.

Not a bad idea... The orange Millie has basic S30v steel. You could get Luke at Cuscadi to make you a set of orange scales for a regular Millie - and pay less for the whole package than you would for one off the 'bay.

I wouldn't be too sure about that... While Cuscadi does fabulous work and Luke is the man, you definitely pay a premium price for their level of quality. Patience and a saved search feature on the bay will land you one eventually at a more down to earth price.

Off topic a bit - I am looking for an orange Para Military, I think they would fly if a sprint were to be done. :D
