One reason is to keep it legal in more areas.

Spyderco is making Manix 2 and Manix 2 XL, why not PM2 XL with longer blade. For me PM2 - great handle and compression lock, tip up pocket clip option, but too small blade. Military is with linerlock and only tip down.

For me compression lock is better - more comfortable, and I like more tip up. Military isn't solution here.

I like the PM2 but I wouldn't be against them adding to the length that's for sure.

Sorry, but I don't really see the point (no pun intended). You have the Stretch, the Endura, and the Military (among others) for slightly larger blades. I like the PM2 size. I just picked up a pre-owned "like new" PM1 last month and am pleased that it's a tad smaller than the PM2. But, to each his own...

Seriously, a slightly longer PM2 would be an entirely new design. A new design involves R&D(and all associated costs) and new tooling. It's not just a matter of lenthening the knife. There have been threads about that in the past and it has been explained that a design tweak is not all that's involved. Besides the PM2 is selling like the proverbial hotcake these days, why mess with it? The regular manix 2 never sold out for long periods so it must not be as hot an item as the PM2(although this is debatable).

Additionally, if your tasks really require that additional length, why not put up with a military? Unless of course, it's just a preference...

Also, there's a Military 2 with the stop lock in the works...

ourgon, you may not know this because you have not been here very long, but the PM2 design had its own thread here on the forum. There was a lot of member input on it then & all this has been hashed out. You probably only want more blade because you see some handle to put it in & if the handle were 6 mm shorter you may be happy. We got exactly what we asked for & I for one am happy with mine :) .
I would like to see everyone who wants a PM2 to be able to even get one before changes are asked for again.

As Captain Tim pointed out the PM1 had a shorter blade than the PM2 & that was because it was asked for a longer blade in the PM redesign. So we have the longer blade you seek.

Endura - I own one. It's another steel and lock, handle material. Stretch - the same. After Endura and Police I don't buy more back lock from Spyderco because blade play.
Military - I have old Starmate with linerlock and tip down clip. It's good but not comfortable as compression lock and tip up clip. ;)
And I own PM2.

Szabo is nice but not simple like PM2.

So, maybe in future Spyderco will made another knife with full flat grind, bigger S30V blade, G-10 and compression lock. ;)

Manix XL is nice but too heavy.

And you have some right. It is also about proportionality.

Oh, so you just basically want a custom knife?

It can be a CQI someday who knows.

Like I said, I like the PM2 as is. Not really seeking a longer blade, just saying that I'd be for it if they decided to extend it further. Why wouldn't I?

Para 2 is great as it is now
But I wouldn't be against filling the rest of the handle.
Either way I'll keep buying the Para 2

I'm with you FCM. The point to my reply to ourgon was just that if it was crucial for him in his tasks to have that slight bit of additional length, then there are a few other spydies that would accomplish the tasks. :)

After handling PM2 and desiring more blade to handle ratio I went with Military, and I'm totally happy. I like the liner lock and could care less about tip up/down...get used to a system and you will be proficient.

I think Military might indeed be a solution here, if you will let it.

Cut, copy, paste in PS, and animation in Easy Gif Animator.

While I would prefer to see a compression lock and tip up option on the military, that knife works so good that I have no problem using it as is. It is definitely worth a look-see if you've never tried one. You may be surprised at how much you like it, I know I was.

Wait, what? Is this a joke or was there some announcement I missed?
