Donating stuff

#1

Post by doctorknife »

Hey guys, I have too much old stuff like all sorts of old stuff, old clothes also which I would never wear and I was wondering where can I donate all that, like in Africa or to some kids I really dunno. I really don't want to just throw it away in the garbage. And I can't get money out of it. Thanks :spyder: ;)

Take it to Goodwill? I think they've even got an option to get a receipt for a tax writeoff

Doesn't the CEO make like 400,000 a year?

Possibly,
Do you know better options for donating old staff?

If you want your stuff to go overseas, your best bet would be a religious group that does missionary work. Whether that's a viable option will depend on the existence of such groups within driving distance from you. Even for donations to be used within the USA, thrift shops run by a house of worship are a good choice.

Deacon, thank you for mentioning this. I have also been considering a donation of collected things and infact this is my question: If I have various knives I have collected over the years, and I want to somehow get the value of them donated to a charity for missionaries and the very needy, is it better to first have the knives and stuff sold, and send them the money, or, do you think I could send them the items directly, and they can either help people with them, or sell them?

I don't live in the US btw. And I also have some old knives that I never use, and there is no point of selling them because they are so cheap. But I don't want to just throw that away.

You can also check with a company like ahope.org which you can also use as a tax right off and the clothing will go to HIV infected persons in Africa that really need stuff. My wife does some volunteer work for them and they are always looking for donations.
